I'm happy to announce that we are taping "The Rise and Fall of Mahagonny" for PBS and possible DVD release.

Now, those of you who wanted to see Patti and Audra will not miss out!

I'll let you know the details as they are announced.

Contracts were all signed and they filmed night before last and will do so again tomorrow, on closing night.

Audra looks stunning and Patti is tearing into her role like a tiger.

Having seen this production, I am THRILLED that it is going to be preserved, and that more people will get to experience it. Not just for Patti and Audra's wonderful performances (Audra, especially, was fierce), but because of John Doyle's quite brilliant direction.

I saw the closing performance of "Mahagonny" at The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and was very disappointed. It was just....so....soo....bad. A very odd "opera." As we all know Patti L & Audra M are incredibly talented women. Even they couldn't rise above the material. It's just a bad show.

I couldn't wait for it to be over.

To each his own, I suppose. A very disappointing day at the theatre for me.
