hey munk,
you say you won't go into great detail in the second paragraph of your insufferably tedious review, and yet you go on for another 5 paragraphs in your first post, then return for a half dozen more posts after that.
Sure, the show's a bomb, but why spend so much time spewing such hatred? If people want to see it, why deter them? It's a show - just a show - definately a bad show but still - just a show. Try not to be so dramatic about how much you didn't like it. I hope to be spared from what you would consider a "detailed" review of something you dislike as much - you seem to have a lot of spare time, maybe you should alphabetise all those unpleasant adjectives you use.
edited to add: you clearly have a thesaurus - you should look into the word hyperbole...

I enjoyed the show regardless to what was said. And the five people I were with at the time loved it. Maybe it was becaue we had second row seats? I don't know. But I thought the story was cute, though it wasn't too deep. And the music was fun. (killed- but fun) And maybe I'm just biased because Seb. Whatever.
This review makes BEAT THE BAND, GREAT LADY and WALK WITH MUSIC seem like masterpieces!

Wow, Munk. I find it very hard to believe that is wasn't fun for "The Audience" Did you ask everyone in the audience. It's very clear you didn't like the show, but OMG could you be anymore dramatic? A good review does much more than rant. I've seen the show and the singing is great, I grew up with the Beach Boys and usually hate remade/done songs, but these were good. I also can't believe you didn't get the story and how the songs fit, it wasn't that hard. The story wasn't Shakespeare, but it fit. You have mentioned time and time again how you hate these kinds of shows, so do you go just so you can bash them? It's perfectly OK to hate a show, but your review made no sense, at least the one from luvtheemcee made a point. I know that there are more audience members who enjoy the show then don't. Your overdramatic comments are just plain silly. I knew you wouldn't like it, but I really thought you would give an articulate and welling meaning review, boy was I wrong. If you think you were being "honest" you may want to think again. Just to make it very clear, it's not that you didn't "like" the show. It just seems like you had all these bad preconcived ideas and wanted to have everyone read them. That's too bad!

To ghostlight 2: I think the point of ranting one's hatred about a particular show is to influence others. This, in turn, will hopefully put a dent in ticket sales, which will ultimately lead to the show's demise.
Is this the kind of response you were looking for??
DIE, GOOD VIBRATIONS, DIE!!!
Blah, blah, blah. Anyone with taste knows this show is crap. It got absolutely abominable reviews across the board - you're acting like I'm the only one that hates it. It's crap - it's terrible, and I'm not going to aplogize for hating it. Garbage doesn't belong on Broadway. I didn't try to write a well-written, thought provoking review - I did the whole thing basically as a joke. It's just a terrible show, and I'm sorry that you can't accept that you have bad taste. And I did have preconceived notions - EVERYONE does - but I hated it. I go into shows all the time hearing bad things - and i LOVE them - THE CAPEMAN, TABOO, URBAN COWBOY, DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES, SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS, etc. So your point is invalid.
Joshua: EXACTLY!
This was a bad show. It truly was. The audience wasn't enjoying it and when it was over people seemed happy to be out of there.
That said, this cast is wonderful and it's sad to see them stuck with this material, ala BKLYN. Hopefully each and every one of them will find a better show ASAP.

Joshua488, I really don't think that "Hateful Rants" stop ticket sales. When people do that they really lose credibility. Good Vibrations will do well because tourists will want to see it, it's a fun show and for those who don't like these kind of shows there is plenty more on Broadway to see, that's what is so great, something for everyone to LOVE and HATE
KJP, I'm going to disagree with you. GOOD VIBRATIONS won't "do well". It's not doing well as it is filling barely 50% of the house.
When I asked the box office if they had any rush tickets, I had to wake him up. When it registered (that I wanted a ticket,) he was like "Oh, definitely! Yea! Sure!"

Munk, Just because your taste and mine differ doesn't mean I don't have any, just like it doesn't mean you don't. Get over yourself, you are not the voice of everything good. You have said nothing that makes any sense to justify your rant. It just makes you sound like an whiny kid, who thinks they are brillant and they aren't. No one asks you to apologize for hating the show and of course there are others who don't like the show, but, believe it or not, there are many who do. I don't know if you think you are a Broadway all-knowing person or what, but when you can't say articulatly why something is "Crap" maybe you should not comment. A quote comes to mind after reading your 1st and last post "It is better to remain silent and thought a fool, than to speak-up and remove all doubt" I really expected better from you.

Matt-G, I know it was like that, but things have picked up really fast. I'll bet it will show in the Broadway grosses. At least you didn't like the show, but didn't rant and I can respect and listen to that.

Keep trying, maybe you'll post something funny yet
I wasn't trying to be funny, that really happened.
Seriously bitch, stop trying. I don't care about a single thing you are saying. And I am all knowing, please.
i have seen hundreds of musicals and shows and i loved GV.
Well that is shocking. I couldn't wait to leave.
Munk- It's one thing to dislike a show, it's another thing to post about it negatively and trash it OVER AND OVER AND OVER again to the point of making the people on this board nauseous and disgusted with you. Instead of being so traumatized over it as you claim, it sounds to me like someone's a little bit obsessed. Stop being so insulting to others on this board and go find a more productive hobby to occupy your time like basket weaving or something like that. Didn't your mother teach you any manners?

Munk likes to snark cruelly, and I doubt anything someone says here will change his mind about that.

I hate to bog down Munk's diatribe with facts, but:
"Anyone with taste knows this show is crap."
Of the 27 reader reviews on the NYT website, 16 gave it 4 stars or better and 3 more gave it 3 stars. The average rating for 230 votes is 3.97 stars. Also, only 1 of 5 readers found Munk's review helpful (I assume that was Munk himself).
"It got absolutely abominable reviews across the board"
Although the first night reviewers panned it, since then it's gotten great reviews from the UPI, The New Yorker, Bloomberg Radio and City Guide Magazine.
"It's not doing well as it is filling barely 50% of the house." (Matt_G)
Actually both the Saturday evening and Sunday matinee performances were SRO. The advance was up over 18% last week and the gross was up about 7%.

Munk, I was quite surprised by your review. I didn't think you'd like it, but I thought it would be more to the point. What happened? this doesn't seem like you.

Munk, The fact that you have now resorted to name calling shows your maturity level. If you can't take criticism you should give it. I notice you got STUDENT tickets. If you are a acting student, you're going to need to grow up a little, learn not to call names when people critic you and try to give constructive criticism. You may not care what I have to say, but I hope for your sake you listen, if not to me, maybe to others on the board. Read luvemcee's review. they hated it also, but knew how to review. They made some harsh remarks, but for the most part it was OK.
Munk: love the avatar
Also, I'd have to agree with Munk on Good Vibrations. I just can;t stand the whole jukebox musical thing, but this is by far the worst. As if the ticket sales don't prove that on their own.
I saw Good Vibrations for $3 so that tells you how well it's doing.
It was the worst show I've ever seen- couldn't wait to get out of there.
