Tonight is the first preview for the Broadway production of GREY GARDENS, as we all know. Who else is excited about this?
Anyone who's ging tonight, please post a review.

I'm sorry to hear they cut "Body Beautiful Beale". That was one of my favorite songs. Still I'm really excited to see it next week.
There are times when I worry about a performance being so over-hyped that upon seeing it, I can't help but be disappointed, thinking it was grossly over-rated. Having just gotten home from the first preview, all I can say is -- Christine Ebersole is everything they've said she is AND MORE. The second act, which features several solo moments that would degrade into sentimental melodrama in the hands of less skilled performers, amuses and engages at some many emotional levels as Ebersole moves through the haunted house of her past, wrestles with the reality of being "in this world" with her mother darling. She's bloody brilliant. Whatever you think of the book and score (which have issues, no doubt), Ebersole's performance is not to be missed. History will regard it as legendary.
Wow...in addition to Body Beautiful Beale I'm very sorry to hear that Better Fall Out of Love is out...I quite enjoyed that song.
I still think the show is pretty fantastic (especially for this big fan of the source material)...but am still pretty sad to hear some of my favorite stuff is gone.
Christine Ebersole belongs on Mount Rushmore...or something.

Was the theater full? I wonder how it will do on Broadway. It no doubt will get good reviews, or at least the performers will, but was the audience packed?

I haven't seen the show but it seems that all the focus is on fixing Act I, does Act II need any work that the creative team is neglecting in order to fix Act I (most reviews say Act I should be eliminated all together which is why I'm surprised less changes have been made to the second act)?

Any word if they'll record the new songs?
I saw the show OB, and I agree with the reviews about Act I. But Christine Ebersole IS spectacular in this show, so I am going to see it again next week. But my husband doesn't want to see it again unless Act I has been eliminated entirely!

There was a thread on here that said they'd do an Original Broadway Cast Recording but there has not been an official release. One would hope so if only to hear the new songs and new lyrics as well as the new Little Edie who is getting much better reviews than Ms.Gettelfinger. I am quite excited about seeing the Broadway production of the show, Grey Gardens is a very haunting documentary, and the way Ebersole evokes Little Edie on the cast recording (can't imagine what it's like in the live show) is uncanny.
How could she be getting better reviews than Gettlefinger if tonight was the first time she performed before a paying audience?
I thought Sara G. sang the part beautifully.
I am very curious to see how the show has changed, which seems like a lot according to the ATC post.
I have heard that the new girl is somewhat better than Sara, but nothing truly exceptional.
I was also sad to hear about the cutting of "Better Fall Out of Love," which I thought was a great song. According to a friend working on the show, the song that replaced it is just as good and actually lends itself to the plot more.

I meant reviews from the audience members who attended tonight's performance. Obviously, not a lot of reviews. Didn't mean to put down Gettelfinger.

anyone notice if they had merchandise at the show tonight. Especially window cards. My collection just keeps growing.
Yes, I'd also like to know how full the house was
Did Christine Ebersole sign at the stage door?
