Guess the musical

Every year my director will give me clues as to what our musical will be for next year. You guys really helped me out last year when we did A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum. Another year, another show. And I need your help again. I have lots of clues...

1) Society is very formal...bowing often is considered normal!

2) There used to be a talk show with a list called, "Things that make you go hmmm."

3) This version of the show has never appeared on Broadway...something similar was done in the thirties...the original material is much older than that.

4) Known for its pithy word choice, this is one show that often makes fun of itself!

5) Men and women alike would be wise to learn the language of the fan.


I am completely lost here. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I wanna say The Mikado but I don't know why.


Actually now that I've seen the countless broadway productions of The Mikado on IBDB.....scratch that idea.

The clue is "THE LIST" and mikado has a song called I PUT IT ON THE LIST.
