Apparently, you all have only ever seen Patti do it. But its not the best. Usually, the role is played by a woman. And usually, the moment is full of emotion...not just the single emotion 'anger' that Patti did. As Michael Musto of the Village Voice wrote, Patti plays the role as though she is 'eating a live lobster.' Sorry, but thats not the right way to play Rose, or to sing this iconic song. IMHO

SEESAW was the first broadway show I ever saw....I admit, I don't remember all that much safe for Michelle Lee and Tommy Tune...sat in the VERY last row of the then Uris Theatre.....it'd be great for Encores to do it. Someone needs to revive shows that never get revived...not just the same old same old. (Don't get me wrong, I like the same old's as much as anyone does...but lets see something else that we can rediscover)

I saw 'the first last tour' in Boston this Spring...was awesome! Caught her a few times in NYC and in New Haven too. Sure, its a little bit of the same, but its not tiresome since the interaction with the audience is always unique.
Interesting that Jerry Zaks is directing.

It was NOTHING to revive Gypsy twice in five years. One production was bad. One production was worse.
Gypsy is my favorite musical, and I hope its a good long while till it comes back.
I still have bad dreams of how that hateful woman ruined this show for me.
