The show is set to start rehearsals in a couple of weeks, and they still have yet to announce the rest of the cast? Anybody heard any updates?

i havent heard anything...i emailed ASK PATTI @ asked whom we should lobby to record the show & she replied, "I dont know...City Center?" which isnt a satisfying answer but it was still a thrill to receive an email from Patti (or her representative)!

I know for a fact that Loretta Swit has been approached to do both Miss Ratchitt and Tessie Tura.

That's what Patti likes to think about any show she's in ;-0
Without a good Louise, Herbie, June and Tulsa, not to mention the strippers, the show can fall pretty flat.
The most recent Broadway revival overcame those casting issues quite well, Tom, thanks to its Rose.
Well, I think what Tom says makes sense though. Of course the show is driven by Rose and it was written as such. However, if you don't have a Louise that is able to make a successful transition in the audience's eyes from Louise to Gypsy Rose Lee, or a winning Herbie, or a June that can make you understand how faulty Rose's behavior is...then the show will definitely be less enjoyable and the theme less powerful.
I've read before that Tammy Blanchard was one of the reasons the GYPSY revival didn't thrive, not sure if that's true or not, but I do think that GYPSY is not all about Rose. Though in the case of a revival starring Peters it'd have been all about Rose for me
It was definitely all about Peters for me, ray. The rest of the cast was subpar, except for the strippers, who weren't onstage enough to salvage the rest of the production.

...but think how much better the production will be if *all* the talent is quality!!!
i *love* Patti but i dont want it to be "all about Patti"....
i want:
• a Louise who can bring a tear to the eye on LITTLE LAMB
• a JUNE who can get an honest laugh when she sings to CAROLINE
• a HERBIE that you can believe is in love with ROSE
• loveable strippers!!!!
I think that goes without saying.
A little birdie told me that a former Romance/Romance star will be one of the strippers.
I wouldn't mind a knockout Tulsa either...
Hah, interesting, as her standby in that show was one of the strippers in the 1989 revival.

And Tyne Daly's stand-by...
Exactly, ray.
They were still looking for a Baby June as of two days ago. I think everything else has been cast.

I just need the Patti.
Even though I'm sure Patti will be fantastic, I agree with Norn. The rest of the cast should be strong as well, particulary Louise.

That cast better be knockout because if Patti gets into warble mode, I'm outta there.

Oh my gosh, where is that picture from? It's priceless!
I found it on Patti's website. It was her in "Mahogany" in California.
I'm sure they are gonna go for different casting than the recent revival but I wouldn't mind seeing the Brilliant Mazzepa of Kate Buddeke again.

Wait a second. People didn't like Tammy?
I must be certfiably nuts. I hated Bernadette, and LOVED Tammy.
