Just in... Also of note, other than the closing is "Discussions are underway for a GYPSY national tour starring Ms. Peters."
Well, at least we can still see TONY AND TINA'S WEDDING!
Sueleen, I think I love you.
So one of my favorite Hussys might be going on tour. ( And again I say it with love. She is miscast but I LOVE HER )
Congragulations on your broadway run Bernadette. You are the true theater diva ( and a hussy)
All this "hussy" nonsense is getting quite annoying.
Anyway, I am so saddened by this. This was my favorite thing on Broadway right now. Thank you Bernadette for giving us your wonderful interpretation and performances as Mamma Rose.
Cheers,

Sorry to see this or any show close. It is a loss of jobs for our community.
This def wasn't one of my favorites but I did enjoy it and all the performances in it, especially Bernadette's! I am upset about this though...I really didn't think a show starring Bernadette Peters would close, I assumed it would happen once she left.
That means that the Schubert will now be free for HUSSY - THE MUSICAL!!!!!! Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!!
I'm not holding my breath for any national tour. THey said the same thing about a Man Of LaMancha Tour starring Brian Stokes. That never happened. THey say that all the time.
I enjoyed seeing the current revival of Gypsy last July. I hope that the national tour with Bernadette is successful and that it reaches my fellow theater lovers here in the hinterlands of Atlanta. Speaking of "hussies", I remember a spectacular performance from the 3 strippers of Gypsy - Heather Lee, Julie Halston, and Kate Buddeke. I thought that their rendition of "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" was hilarious! All the best!
Maybe "Catch Me If You Can" can now go into that theater. And balladeer; I find alot of things that you say alot more annoying then my ( maybe poor) attempt to bring some humor and liteness to this board . If at some point I come to the conclusion that enough is enough.. I will stop. .. But till then ( and I mean this with love) GET OVER IT HUSSY!

Please. Balladeer is no HUSSY. Move eight letters further along the alphabet and you'll have it right.
Brilliant Namo. :)

Just think of all the threads that will die out NOW.
Only to be replaced by "Who sould replace Joan Marie Fabrizzio in TONY AND TINA'S WEDDING?" threads.
This wasn't one of my favorite shows either, but I did enjoy it. I'm sad to see it go... I really thought that if it could semi-survive that awful winter that it would make it at least a little bit longer than this.

My bet is on Jerry Springer the Opera to go in the Shubert.
DAME - being that you are relatively new to the board, you should know that you are in the minority of people who find me to be annoying. If being annoying is not being afraid to express opinions with out being overly "witty", then include me in being annoying. And yes, Namo's comment would have been brilliant for a 5 year old. But supposedly, he's an adult....oh well.

LOL! I thought the same thing when I read the word "HUSSY" once again.
That would be nice of them to start up a national tour! I would go check it out.
Balladeeeeeeer;
Express all the opinions you want. No one is stopping you. And I always think Namo is brilliant. ALWAYS!

The Shubert is contracted for a show after Gypsy (and no, it's not Jerry Springer the Opera! haha)... but not until November or thereabouts. The theatre will be empty for about 5 months post Gypsy.

CJR,
Whats the show?

I think I read somewhere that the next show to go in there is Spamalot, the one based on Monty Python's Holy Grail, by Eric Idle.
This is very sad news. I loved Gypsy seeing both Bernadette and Maureen Moore in the role. I don't know who I am going to miss more, David Burtka or The Lamb. Both were incredibly adorable and talented.

I guess I am lucky I ordered my tickets for the May 30 performance at 3:00, huh?
