GYPSY w/Imelda Staunton

Has anybody heard news of the current London production of GYPSY with Imelda Staunton coming to Broadway for a limited engagement?

While Staunton was nominated for an Academy Award for VERA DRAKE, she really is not known here. Some might think it's too soon for another revival, but this production, and Imelda's performance, have been praised to high heaven.

The public just needs their memory jogged a bit. For example, my mother knows her from seeing "Cranford" on PBS. That was an excellent cast because she was the aggressive lady to balance Julia McKenzie's softer, ditzier lady. If she decided to come over, PBS should rebroadcast "Cranford" and it's sequel.

LOL...yeah, Cranford will really put butts in those seats!

I saw her in it a couple of weekends ago while in London. I saw both Bernadette and Patti's versions as well (loved BP, liked PL) and must say that Imelda blew them out of the water. Her humor, ferocity, and ultimate breakdown were incredible. If anyone has the chance to see it, GO!

It's also a beautiful theatre :)

Don't forget 'Taking Woodstock', Imelda & Henry Goodman (both brits) terrific cameo's

It's not the Hamilton crowd going to see Gypsy. Cranford is the audience for Gypsy.
