DAMNY YANKEES (Marquis) - 2027 Broadway revival - Harris, Hough & Scott

Sep 28, 2026 — 1:16:12 AM

I saw the 1994 REVIVAL of this show. Now we are told we’re getting a REVISAL of this show. Why?Approximately 40 years had passed since DAMN YANKEES premiered on Broadway in 1955 to the 1994 revival. The revival ran for over 500 performances because it worked and audiences liked it.Now, here we are awaiting a REVISAL of this show. Do producers, etc. really think audiences are so dumb today that we can’t see a show, set in mid-50s America, without it being overhauled and shoehorned into 21st ce...

Re: New Complete Recording of Guys and Dolls

I’m really enjoying this recording; just finished Act I and will listen to Act II later. I was in high school when I saw my first GUYS AND DOLLS; the 1976 production starring Robert Guillaume, Ernestine Jackson, Ken Page and more. It had a run of 12 previews and 239 performances. I was surprised to find that cast recording streaming on Apple Music…but nowhere else. The 1992 revival was great and the recording is a testament to that. There’s a 50th Anniversary National Tour recording starring M...

Kentucky Schools Production of “Ragtime” Cancelled by School Board

I followed the link, but I’m not seeing a reason. Could it be about a tour conflicting with this production? If that’s the case, it happens all the time.

Liza in GYPSY

Aug 12, 2026 — 1:22:11 AM

I didn’t want to derail the GYPSY/Bernadette Peters thread, so I started this one.i think there was a window in which Liza could’ve been a great Mama Rose. She included “Some People” in her live concert appearances for years. With “Liza’s Back,” she performed “Rose’s Turn” successfully. Now, since that window has been long closed, I will always wonder about what might’ve been…Does anybody else have any thoughts on this?

New THEY’RE PLAYING OUR SONG recording…

This is another Spanish Cast recording helmed by Antonio Banderas.i haven’t listened to the entire recording yet, but i really liked the previous Spanish Cast recordings of COMPANY and A CHORUS LINE; also with Banderas involvement.I don’t speak Spanish but these recordings are great to listen to if you’re familiar with the Broadway recordings.

THE LOST BOYS Original Broadway Cast Recording Thread

Jul 24, 2026 — 10:48:31 PM

I’ve never seen the movie. I hope to watch it this weekend before listening to the Original Broadway Cast album. I’m in L.A., but I have friends that liked the show in New York.Someone, early on here, asked if there was an Overture. I see there is not one…which, to me, means that there may be no stand-alone numbers that would warrant one. Sadly, overtures are mostly a thing of the past. Still, I’m really looking forward to listening to this once I’ve familiarized myself with the story.i guess...

Dear World is Herman’s best show

I’ve never seen a production of DEAR WORLD… However, I think it’s a great cast recording; magnificently produced by Thomas Z. Shepard.

Why wasn’t Rebecca Luker nominated for her Maria in The Sound of Music?

Jun 28, 2026 — 10:10:40 PM

I really enjoyed this production when I saw it with Rebecca Luker. It was my first time seeing the Broadway SOUND OF MUSIC. I’d only seen the movie prior to this. The production with Luker was very nice…but the first time the show “wowed” me was when I saw it in London at the Palladium; the 2006 production. I’ve posted about this here before (I don’t have the time to find it), but in the Palladium production, when the Trapp family was about to sing at the Salzburg Festival, the Nazi banners d...

I saw Bill Irwin and Sally Field as well. I can still remember the absolute ferocity let loose when Sally Field, in her Broadway debut, detonated! I'll never forget it...
