I didn’t want to derail the GYPSY/Bernadette Peters thread, so I started this one.i think there was a window in which Liza could’ve been a great Mama Rose. She included “Some People” in her live concert appearances for years. With “Liza’s Back,” she performed “Rose’s Turn” successfully. Now, since that window has been long closed, I will always wonder about what might’ve been…Does anybody else have any thoughts on this?

I’ve got friends who saw this over the weekend and loved it! The clips on the Ogunquit website look great.Has anyone here seen it?

This is another Spanish Cast recording helmed by Antonio Banderas.i haven’t listened to the entire recording yet, but i really liked the previous Spanish Cast recordings of COMPANY and A CHORUS LINE; also with Banderas involvement.I don’t speak Spanish but these recordings are great to listen to if you’re familiar with the Broadway recordings.

I’ve never seen the movie. I hope to watch it this weekend before listening to the Original Broadway Cast album. I’m in L.A., but I have friends that liked the show in New York.Someone, early on here, asked if there was an Overture. I see there is not one…which, to me, means that there may be no stand-alone numbers that would warrant one. Sadly, overtures are mostly a thing of the past. Still, I’m really looking forward to listening to this once I’ve familiarized myself with the story.i guess...

I’ve never seen a production of DEAR WORLD… However, I think it’s a great cast recording; magnificently produced by Thomas Z. Shepard.

I really enjoyed this production when I saw it with Rebecca Luker. It was my first time seeing the Broadway SOUND OF MUSIC. I’d only seen the movie prior to this. The production with Luker was very nice…but the first time the show “wowed” me was when I saw it in London at the Palladium; the 2006 production. Even though many of us weren’t thrilled with Nick Jonas in “The Last Five Years,” a digital-only release of a cast album featuring Jonas would probably have more people exposed to this show and score than all previous recordings combined.Maybe Jonas would’ve worked better in an audio-only release. Also, we’d have Adrienne Warren’s performance to enjoy.
