Gad leaving Spelling Bee#1

Just saw this on his myspace page. Does anyone know who is coming in as the new Barfee? I really loved what he did with the role, although I ever saw Fogler, so he kind of is the only Barf I know. Also, does anyone know if "the Jewish Night" is significantly different from the other shows? I am thinking about going.

Posted: 1/24/07 at 10:10amGad is the only Barfee I've seen, having seen the show twice, and I wouldn't want to see any other. He is incredible, and my favorite of the cast both times.

Posted: 1/24/07 at 10:29amWell, if you never saw Fogler, you don't know what you missed. So, obviously, a new replacement will satisfy most people too.

Posted: 1/24/07 at 11:23amVery sad to see he's leaving. I've seen Dan and Josh in the role and I preferred Josh by a long shot, as do many other posters on this board. Hopefully the new replacement will be just as good.

I've heard a couple rumors about who will be playing Barfee, but even the cast wasn't sure when I spoke to them earlier this week.
Josh has been an excellent addition to the cast and I'll definitely miss him! At least he already has some film projects lined up, so we know he will be busy!
And in regards to Jewish night- it is more of a promo night for Jewish singles, the show barely changes. A couple of the words have new Jewish sentences, that's it though.

Posted: 1/24/07 at 12:29pmThanks for the answer on Jewish night. So it is not like the adult night in that it has a bunch of changes. Out of curiosity, what movies is Josh doing?

Nope, it is not at all like adult night, much more just a promo for Jewish groups to have people attend.
Josh is doing something with Kevin Spacey next.

i saw Fogler, and his understudy whose name I forget was on for Jesse T Ferguson that night, and he was fantastic in that role. I can only imagine he did well as Barfee also- any chance he might be moved up? Certainly looks the part...
also anyone know what date Gad's leaving? Just bought tickets for a friends bday for this Sun evening... will his replacement be in by then?

Posted: 1/24/07 at 2:21pmYes, his last show is Sunday night. Also, that will be Lisa Yuen's last show as well, she is on as Marcy Park this week.

I saw Fogler and he was amazing. I love Bee. Personally though, my favorite performance in Bee is Jose Llana. used to be in Flower Drum Song.(My unfortunate Erection is hysterical)
I love the entire cast but LLana stole the show for me. I love him.
Even if he hit me with gummy candies both times. I would love to see the understudy go on. (Todd Buonopane) He was amazing in Mudge. That show was so cute.
Corrected. I said Miss Saigon when I meant Flower Drum Song.

I am so sad to see Josh go! He was great in the role and will truly be missed.
I'm wondering who will replace him...
re: Gad leaving Spelling Bee#17
Posted: 1/24/07 at 10:41pmI'm almost positive that Josh's replacement will be Law Tarello.

Corine, relevant and appropriate to the situation...please...
I sincerely hope that Todd Buonopane is moved up, though I have not yet seen a William Morris Barfee to match Dan Fogler's nuanced and heartfelt performance.

I love Todd. Would love to see him in that role. He was so fantastic in Mudge. He is adorable.
PS I love the entire cast of Bee and would love to see it a third time. Soon. Foa is faboo. Wish Jen Simard was in the NYC Bee! Love, Simard!
