This is the cast that will be going to San Diego this summer as well.
I'm not sure how I feel about Ana Gasteyer as Brenda, but Carolee Carmello and Adriane Lenox are genius choices for Annie and Elise.
I've also heard great things about Sara Chase, who is playing each of the girlfriends of the three husbands.
Sara Chase is phenom.
ever since she broke onto the scene with an incredible Elle, at an early workshop for LEGALLY BLONDE, she's been somewhat neglected.
I hope this is her chance to really rise up
TheCharleston, Chase was Margot in an early reading of LEGALLY BLONDE, not Elle.
I'm very curious about the Holland-Dozier-Holland score.
Anyone heard any of it?

Why, oh WHYYYY, are they letting Francesca Zambello direct musicals still?!?!
SomethingWicked - Sara Chase has also read for Elle in closed developmental workshops before.
I think the casting is really inspired for this one... but it's going to be an absolutely terrible mess if they give Francesca Zambello ANY reign over this production. I can't believe anyone would invest any money in a musical directed by someone who allowed The Little Mermaid to go down the road it did. Is it common for shows to replace directors during this whole process? Also, I think the timing is really off because it's coming in right after 9 to 5, which is looking like it's going to be a big success next season.
I think I'm more comfortable with Gasteyer and Lenox than I am with Carmello as Annie. I see her much more fit for the traditional Elise--I know they are going a different way for the musical.
It's a strong cast but after they threw around names like Bernadette Peters, Olivia Newton-John, Queen Latifah, and Megan Mullally I am a bit disappointed.
Sara Chase is a FABULOUS talent! I'm so glad she's a part of this!

Ugh, I LOVE Ana. I'm so happy she's going to be back on stage singing. To me, she has one of the most powerful, yet beautiful and unique voices I've ever heard. She's also hysterical. I love the other 2 ladies as well. Great choices
This is a really strong group of performers, and I'm excited for Carmello to get to play a new role, so she won't have to be Donna Sheridan forever.
I had not even heard of Zambello before MERMIAD,
but she actually has an amazing career and life.
Mayhaps the MERMAID fiasco's blame lies elsewhere,
When an Artist is offerd a chance to grow and work in a different venue (like Opera to Musical Comedy) they go for it, they may fail terribly, but she desrves another chance.
I saw a documentary about her last year during Gay Pride Week and I had a whole new feeling about her.
Her production of WEST SIDE STORY "looked" more exciting than Laurent's in DC.
Art isn't easy.
Zambello did a wonderful job with LITTLE HOUSE and her most recent staging of CARMEN.
Her assistant is a family friend. She insists that FIRST WIVES CLUB is really shaping up to be something "artistically beautiful" and Zambello chose to go down a really "interesting" path for FWC, which will only help showcase the exciting score and book!!
I am so excited about this show!
