Gavin Creel News and Website Revamp

Hey everyone -

Gavin will be doing his first Ars Nova concert next month. Here is all the info.

UNCHARTED, ARS NOVA's newest concert series presents...

GAVIN CREEL

JUNE 13, 2004 at 8pm and 11pm Ars Nova Theatre 511 West 54th Street (at 10th Avenue)

Tickets: $15

A mix of acoustic pop with an R&B/funk flavor, Creel is etching out a new sound that will undoubtedly make waves on the music scene. Collaborating with Creel are industry greats David Cook, Robbie Roth, Adam Roberts, and John Clancy.

Focusing on emerging talents who have yet to break the Billboard 100, this new Ars Nova series, UNCHARTED, sets out to cover a wide range of styles while providing music lovers and industry taste-makers an introduction to exciting new music.

Ars Nova is committed to offering an intimate platform to performers, composers and lyricists who wish to explore new, original material in a comfortable setting in front of a live audience.

GAVIN CREEL most recently finished his run as Hollis Bessemer in the world premiere production of Stephen Sondheim's bounce. Creel received a 2002 Tony nomination for his portrayal of Jimmy Smith in the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie. He has appeared in the off-Broadway cult favorite Bat Boy as Rick/Lorraine, the City Center Encores! production of Hair, and will be appearing with Second Stage's The Mystery Plays as Joe Manning an others which also was performed with Yale Repertory Theatre this past spring. A BFA graduate of the University of Michigan, Creel also starred in the American premiere of Honk!, toured the nation in Fame as Nick, and participated in various New York workshops including Spring Awakening, Hairspray, and Wicked. His television credits include Eloise at the Plaza and the upcoming Eloise at Christmastime, both starring Julie Andrews. Creel is a proud member of the Broadway Inspirational Voices. He is currently writing songs for this forthcoming album, collaborating with David Cook, Robbie Roth, and producer Kurt Deutsch. Look for upcoming demo tracks on this site.

re: Gavin Creel News and Website Revamp

He couldn't do it because he was doing The Mystery Plays (which is amazing, insanely talented cast, it's coming to the city at the end of June and you all have to see it).

Gavin Creel rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." - Ron Bohmer

"I broke the boundaries. It wasn't cool to be in plays- especially if you were in sports & I was in both." - Ashton Kutcher

Wow! The site looks great. Hey, Gavin looks pretty hot with long hair. He's definitely gonna be a huge star.

re: Gavin Creel News and Website Revamp

Thanks so much for the compliments.

Also - Paul Wontorek reported today what I've known for a week or so now. Bright Lights Big City is getting an original cast recording with Gavin as Michael. Patrick Wilson, Jesse L. Martin, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Christine Ebersole, Annmarie Milazzo, Richard Kind, and Sherie Rene Scott. It will be released at Christmas. This is fantastic news. It's a crazy mix of people from the original reading, the Guggenheim reading, and other insanely talented people.

re: Gavin Creel News and Website Revamp

Wow, I have a hard time believing a Gavin show wouldn't sell out in ten minutes! (Especially considering how packed Matt Cavanaugh's Ars Nova show was...and that was Matt Cavanaugh! This is...GAVIN CREEL!:))

I can't wait to see him perform again...he gets better every time...and I'm bringing two friends who have never even seen him live and love him just because I force them to listen to Millie in my car all the time.

re: Gavin Creel News and Website Revamp

Kayla, do you know if Gavin will be among the BIV at Heather's concert Monday night?

re: Gavin Creel News and Website Revamp

Gavin Creel is way cuter than Matt Cavanaugh. (But I'm straight so don't count my vote.)

I agree, nice work with the updates... Kayla, if you're interested I can get you full tracks from THE FLOOD and ILLYRIA (concert) - email through the profile? no idea how it works...

re: Gavin Creel News and Website Revamp

Cuter than Cavanaugh? Thems is fightin' words, Dan.

re: Gavin Creel News and Website Revamp

Could that man BE any cuter? Goodness...

I'll be in NYC over Labor Day weekend...pass the word along that I want to see him in something while I'm there. Surely he'll accomodate me. :)

re: Gavin Creel News and Website Revamp

It's not even a matter of who's cuter, talent-wise, Matt cannot COMPARE to Gavin. His Ars Nova show was ridiculous...he sang, "Movin' Too Fast" from L5Y and would hold up a sign with a picture on it after each line.

"I got a girl that I love!"

(holds up sign!)

"I got an agent who loves me!"

(holds up sign!)

Plus, he kept telling inside jokes, like he'd do an impersonation of his dad and everyone would crack up.
