First of all, what happened to our Toronto message board? Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Anyhow for those in Toronto Gavin Creel will be singing Sunday night (Oct 26) at 8 PM at the Diesel Playhouse. (I, unfortunately, cannot go)
Here's the PR:
Broadway’s GAVIN CREEL comes to the Diesel Playhouse on Sunday, October 26th at 8pm, performing selections from his debut album GOODTIMENATION as well as some of his show-stopping Broadway hits.
Gavin was last seen on Broadway as Jean-Michel in the 2005 revival of LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. He received a Best Actor Tony nomination for his performance as Jimmy Smith in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE. Creel originated the role of Hollis Bessemer in the premiere of the Stephen Sondheim musical BOUNCE. On the London stage, he played Bert in MARY POPPINS.
Creel will be joined on stage by GOODTIMENATION collaborator and producer, Robbie Roth – a Toronto composer, whose music has been performed on stage, screen, and radio by artists all around the world. The evening’s special guests will include Andrew Rannells, who performed on Broadway in HAIRSPRAY and is currently performing in the national tour of THE JERSEY BOYS, and critically acclaimed Canadian musical theatre comedienne and singer/songwriter Eliza-Jane Scott.
"A born showman... Creel's ultra hip stage presence and sleek sexiness barely contain the kind of star quality that other singers can only dream of possessing. His watchability factor is stratospheric!"

Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Unfortunately I can't go either, but as an aside - your posts don't seem to be showing up on the T.O board. I'd really like to know what you thought about the Sound of Music!
The full review is posted to the Toronto board. Odd, but when I visit that area I do not show the box for the message board showing the most recent messages.

I think I'm going to end up going. Also I URGE Torontonian theatre lovers to go see Acting Upstage's production of Edges at Revival nightclub on Sundays and Mondays. I am not shilling because I have nothing to do with the production other than being a fan of both the company and the piece. Go to www.edgestoronto.com for deets!

Good Time Nation is a great album. Gavin is major and I am sure the concert will be terrific!
