Does anyone have an idea as to when Gavin Creel's album is going to be released?

I have no idea. In fact, I haven't heard thing one about him since La Cage closed...anyone have an update on him for us???

I miss him. And I'm unsure about the hair. I forgot what he looked like without it.

I believe he's written some songs of his own to sing. I heard that he was recording it this summer but I don't know when it will be released.

He's currently recording the album. I don't know when it will be released (I think he is looking to get picked up by a major music label), but he will be doing a series of concerts in November. His music is original stuff written by him and his writing parter Robbie Roth and he has some incredible material

Why do some of the Broadway performers think they can picked up by a major label in no time? Shoshana Bean thinks once she leaves Wicked, she'll be on a major label with her album.

It dosen't happen like that.

There are many independent labels and Broadway oriented labels that release solo albums from Broadway perfomers, and are successful at it.

The irony in all this is that several people on Broadway are lightyears more talented than some people on the major labels.

Some Broadway folks have had success being picked up, so it's usually worth the old college heave-ho.

Also, sometimes it's not as much about being picked up as it is exploring a non-Broadway side of your talent.

I don't think Shoshana (or Gavin for that matter)just assumes that once she leaves Wicked she'll get a record deal right away. She's been working on getting a deal for quite some time and I am sure is hoping it will come through sooner or later. It's not like she's expecting it to just fall into her lap.

whenever gavin's album is released, i'll definitely be getting it. I think his voice is just wonderful and his own music is really quite good.

and fyi: shoshana has the same agent as brian mcknight, she'll be performing with him sometime soon in a pretty public awards show (a tribute to aretha franklin during one of her few tv appearances)... as to whether or not she'll be successful, who knows. But she's not jus naively thinking she'll be picked up right away. She's gettin her name and her voice out there slowly via some bigger names.

I emailed Sh-K-Boom a long time ago when rumours about Gavin's solo album were looming, and Kurt Deutsch emailed me back saying they'd be distributing it. It looks like it possibly will be out next year sometime.
