Today is also his day on TCM Summer Under The Stars, which means Gene Kelly movies all day, from Inherit the Wind to Anchors Aweigh.

Is there a "That's Entertainment"-style Gene Kelly compilation of great dance numbers? There should be.

A million billion years ago I randomly taped the AFI Salute to Gene Kelly when it was on TV (just googled - it was 1985) since I was 10 years old and into musicals, though I had no idea who Gene Kelly was at that point.

That special did feature long clips of most of his great numbers, and I watched that tape over and over until it wore out. I'd love to see that special again.

I went to 'Singing in the Rain' last night in theaters. He was an excellent performer and very charming.
