A few questions about him...
has he been Andre for the entire Broadway run? Or did he leave, and come back?
Who was the woman who was in the entire Broadway run of CATS? and which cat did she play?
and
is it a tradition now, that in ALW shows on Broadway, someone stays for the eitre run?
or have I been horribly misinformed?
1) Yes, barring any vacation time, I believe he's done the entire run.
2) Marlene Danielle - She started out as an understudy in the OBC, primarily for Demeter and Bombalurina (both sing "Macavity"). She eventually played both roles during the run. I saw her go on for Donna King early in the run... and toward the end again, this time as Demeter. She was excellent both times! Marlene was also one of the original "Little Shop" girls, when the show was in workshop. She left the production to join Cats... for 18 years.
Yes, he's been with the show since the beginning, but not soley as Andre. He was Firmin for a while, then he and Jeff Keller switched parts.

He is a wonderful actor/singer, who can be heard on the cast album of STARTING HERE STARTING NOW, among others. I got to work with him when he and Alix Korey starred in the world premiere of SHINE - THE HORATIO ALGER musical twenty years ago in Richmond, VA.
It's amazing how someone can stay in the same production, as mostly the same character for SO long!!!
I think that's terrific! What a !@#$ trouper! Ah Frid...
The first time I got to see and enjoy him was as Cole Porter in a revue at the Variety Arts Theatre in downtown L.A. many moons ago called "Red, Hot and Porter" that in addition to Andrews starred the wonderful Kaye Ballard and Jonelle Allen. I've also enjoyed watching him over the years as Fredrick in "A Little Night Music" from the Lincoln Center PBS telecast. I saw him again in POTO last year and my only regret is that I haven't seen him in more shows over the years.
Didn't he start out as like an Opera Role in POTO and work his way up?
BTW, is that version of "A Little Night Music" on a video or DVD?
Speaking of the Andrews clan...Whatever happened to his talented daughter, Jennifer Lee Andrews? She hasn't done anything in a while.

George is one of the most talented performers I have ever known. I was lucky in the early seventies to work with him many times at the Country Dinner Playhouse in Denver, CO, where he did leads in Oklahoma!, The Music Man, I Do, I Do, and others. I actually photographed his wedding on top of a mountain near Denver on our day off!
I would love to contact him and find some other friends.

I worked with both George, his wife and Jennifer (his daughter) on the Fantasticks many moons ago! Loved them all...
I, also, would like to know what Jennifer is up to. She's a great talent and a sweetheart.
He was Frid in the original Broadway production of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC. He left POTO for about 8 weeks in the early 1990's to play Frederick in the NYCO production of ALNM and he was FABULOUS! I don't believe there is any recording of that production. If anyone finds one, give a holler. I'd love to have it.
George started out as Don Attilio/Passarino, and he was promoted to Firmin I believe in the early 90's, and didn't switch to Andre until about five years ago.

He's incredible because he isn't tired with the role...he's an amazing actor who does fun things with the role of Andre...you can tell he loves what he is doing.
I love his rendition of "Silly People" in the Scrabble Sondheim benefit recording.
Love SILLY PEOPLE also.
Speaking of that
Hasn't Bill Nabel been in BEAUTY form the start?
