how are critics asked to re-review a production specifically because of the new cast supposed to do that without comparing them to the predecessors?

I would just simply review it as if the previous cast had never done it. I would do my best to look at the piece with fresh eyes, just as the actors are trying to give a fresh new performance. If you are there to review a new cast in a show, why compare them to anyone else? Why not simply comment on how Mazzie interprets the character with in the context of the play rather than in the context of a replacement cast? Throw comparisons to previous actors out the window, it doesn't matter what someone else did, tell me what this actor is doing.
