Find a chorus member, tell them how great they are, and how you saw them in something else and how amazing of a performer that they are, blah blah blah, tell them that you'd like to meet them after the show....sucking up always helps...
Actually, I'm kidding....Unless you have a reason to be backstage, (know a performer, musician, etc.) then don't try to push your luck, see the show, go home, review it on here and sleep tight.

Posted: 7/13/05 at 7:07pmBlair, what is his name? That guy was amazing and incredibly sweet! My dad has knee probs and he let my dad come in and sit down while i waiting in the FREEEEEZING cold for Foster and Burke (apparently he and my dad had a nice convo). I LOVE ALL THE 8x10s hanging up in there!

Posted: 7/13/05 at 7:10pmWell, it's basically the only way to get backstage. You've got to know someone. That's how I'm getting backstage in L.A.

re: Getting Backstage...WICKED#10
Posted: 7/13/05 at 8:16pmthe two times I got backstage were more luck than knowing somebody. But from what I heard, Megan seems to get everybody backstage. I got backstage twice at Wicked--once was just pure luck, and the other was because they had one amazing, inredible witch in that show...which I'm sure by my name you can guess. :)

Posted: 7/13/05 at 8:17pmBackstage isn't like a petting zoo - you don't just go because you feel like it. I've been, but because people have offered to bring me, not because I've gone asking everyone and their mother how to get there, or by inventing connections.

I feel like we cover this topic every other day.
Backstage isn't glamorous. Backstage is crowded and hectic.....
There's a sign backstage at the Shubert that says "This boat only has enough room for those who row".... in other words, if you don't belong there, you shouldn't be there.

If it was public access, there'd be a sign saying "Come on in, wathc your step"
"I've been, but because people have offered to bring me, not because I've gone asking everyone and their mother how to get there, or by inventing connections."
You disgust me. You are turning into my least favorite person ever! You imp!

Posted: 7/13/05 at 8:32pmIf I ever watch a show from backstage, I am usually with the SM/crew member learning about what they do for that production. The company has the right away. If they are running towards you, get the heck out of their way.

You can always try to get backstage the old-fashioned way ---- practice, practice, practice...... go audition, get casted, and lots of rehearsal. Talent may help.
If that is out of the question, perhaps you can resort to bribery
re: Getting Backstage...WICKED#19
Posted: 7/13/05 at 8:38pmYou get cast not casted.

Hahaha!
Frankly, I always feel like Im in the way when I'm backstage. There have only been a few times (dark days or the last days of a load out) when I haven't felt like I was in the way or intruding
