I saw both shows this week but have now flown home, and wasn't able to stage door.
Can I mail a Playbill to each show to ask the cast to sign it?
Would I need to send one to each cast member separately, or can I send a single copy to the stage manager or someone to pass around?
Any tips most appreciated. Thanks

Send your Playbills with a SASE to the theatres with a small note stating it's an autograph request. If you're only looking for certain cast members to sign it, specify who. It may take awhile for them to get back to you, but you should get them back.

A caveat:
Don't be surprised if they send back a slip requesting a donation. I this frequently with shows I couldn't SD, and sometimes would get back a slip that suggests a donation (usually to BC/EFA)

Great, would you suggest addressing the envelope to e.g. 'Neil Patrick Harris, Belasco Theatre...' or just 'Stage Door, Belasco Theatre'?
I would address it this way:
Neil Patrick Harris
'Hedwig And The Angry Inch'
c/o Belasco Theatre
111 West 44th Street
New York NY 10036
USA
- This is how I address all the letters I send to theatres and have always gotten a response. FYI- I belong to a site called Startiger- it's an Autograph collecting site. according to 2 users who have already sent to the address, they Received a letter asking for a $50 tax-deductible donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS in exchange for a signed Playbill. I send letters all the time to theatres requesting signed playbills and the like and have never gotten that kind of response, but it all depends on the show.
-This may only be while they are collecting or thru the entire run. it also may be different if you send something to him to sign instead of requesting them to send you something signed.
-It also always increases your chances if you include a Self Addressed Stamped envelope with your letter so that all they have to do is sign your stuff, stick it in the envelope, seal it and put it in a mail box. This makes it so they don't have to come out of pocket for shipping.

Thanks, will give it a go! Living outside the US I don't think I have a way of making the donation but we'll say what they say!
If only there was a way to donate to BC/EFA from anywhere, and all you needed was a computer and Internet access.... then printing out your confirmation would probably speed things along...
