FALLEN ANGELS Reviews
 Apr 20 2026, 08:26:16 AM

Broadway Scorecard has this at 78 - Recommended

Critics find this fizzy Coward revival a delightful diversion, with Byrne and O'Hara's boozy chemistry earning raves. While some note the play's thinness, most praise the slapstick performances and breakneck comic timing.

KENREX - (Lucille Lortel Theatre, Off-Broadway)
 Apr 20 2026, 08:16:22 AM

I went last night and, oh my god, this is probably one of my contenders for top performance of the year. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Through many iterations, you can tell that Jack Holden (who also is a co-writer) has been able to masterfully craft this fully lived in performance of over 30 characters (even if only some of them continue through a full arc). Much like DEAD OUTLAW, it has that “Yes, This Crazy S**t Actually Happened” truth to it, but is much, much

How much of the rest of the choreography is derived from the tv show and is there a possibility it will be ineligible for a Tony Awardnomination?"

I don’t think there is any explicit rule about being made ineligible if the choreographer is adapting their own original choreography. I had the same question last year when Joshua Bergasse was (in my opinion, undeservingly) nominated for SMASH because the choreography, aside from a few bits and bobs, was largely identical to the TV show.

Cheadle has no shot. His reviews, while somewhat more polite, are on par with Adrien Brody in terms of having “Well, he was there” tilt to it.

The fundamental issue with Cheadle that was similarly cited was that he seemed far too easygoing and never gave enough of an impression to have the specter of his genius hanging over the whole play when he isn’t on stage. That m

Burke is fantastic for sure, but there are at least 15 truly viable candidates by my count, more or less depending on committee rulings. I would not be surprised if we ended

Mine are (in no order) - Metcalf, Young, Squibb, Aidem, and Nixon, with Reid as a potential sixth (the category is flush with potential for expansion).

Although MTC performers are usually all considered featured by default crediting, after seeing THE BALUSTERS, I think they may try to make a case for Rose to go in Leading, and possibly&

Can Americans "Do" Noel Coward?
 Apr 16 2026, 01:45:46 PM

Coward, while quite British in its sensibilities, is still canon in terms of quality stage comedy.

I think it comes down to how the play is presented and directed. The HIGH SPIRITS production at Encores was a flop, and FALLEN ANGELS, while better overall, is still a bit too airy and fizzy to justify a return. Maybe if they stick with a British director who likely has Coward built into their pedigree, they may be able to elicit slightly better productions

Roundabout 26-27 Season: The Full Monty, The Heart, & More
 Apr 16 2026, 01:41:05 PM

It’s been selling like gangbusters and seems to be a magnet for celebrities, so I can imagine they are entertaining possibilities to extend. If the show is doing well, it could help fill Roundabout’s coffers in the way CABARET did.

Also, and I am shouting this, KARA MF’IN BLACK, BLESSED, BOOKED, and BUSY YOUNG!!!!!!!!!! (With Ruben Santiago-Hudson no less!)

Definitely didn’t see the FULL MONTY revival coming, but honestly I’m glad to see it, and the

Worth noting that the London production was an entirely different animal in terms of direction, design, etc. The only things that remain the same are the text and the lead actor.

That said, I can’t see Brody cracking the list unless nominators  are selecting based on star power. For my money, th

Joe's Pub - Less Broadway?
 Apr 16 2026, 08:29:59 AM

I don’t think it’s either. It’s a case of two decidedly opposite vibes.

54 Below is an uptown, supper club-type cabaret space, which caters to higher-end patrons (mostly) - which is reflected in their prices. I’m sure location is a small factor, but you also have Green Room 42 in the same vicinity.

Joe’s Pub, for my money, has always been the scrappy, downtown cabaret spot that feels accepting to artists of all stripes - alternative, raunchy, experi

The mention of throwable props in this is remarkably stupid. It’s a historic theatre and so I can imagine a hard line has to be drawn somewhere since endless performances filled with water guns, thrown rice and toilet paper are going to cause damage over time.

But even more ludicrous is that the writer is saying that even dressing up in costume is not welcome, and that’s a bald-assed lie. Both times I went, many people were fully dressed up in their own costumes (and looked pretty good) and nobody said anything.

While I get that the callback situation is going to be the sticking point for many, this opinion piece reads like just another Karen screed - though what did I expect from the NY Post?

Playbill: RENT Will Get a Majority Neurodiverse, Disabled Revival Off-Broadway
 Apr 15 2026, 09:56:00 PM

It’s all a bit conceptually vague for me. Someone pitched it to me and I personally was a bit puzzled as to if it was just doing the regular show with an ND cast, or they got permission from the estate to maybe reframe and make changes to certain characters and story to reflect the company.

I have my doubts that it’s the latter and so I don’t feel particularly compelled to sit through RENT just because of this casting concept alone. I wish them all the best though,&nb

If Christopher Ashley is jumping in, perhaps there’s likely to be some reframing going on. I can’t imagine nixing a sold out preview performance three days ahead of time unless the entire cast was laid out sick.

Someone mentioned he did direct the last revival, so it’s possible he might be working to see how the callbacks can still be integrated into the experience in a bit more streamlined way. If someone was at tonight’s show, maybe they could tell us about th

Could Lea Michele be the next Rose in GYPSY on Broadway?
 Apr 15 2026, 09:18:29 AM

I’m also part of the team that thinks GYPSY needs to be shelved for a while. It’s become so ubiquitous that even a 16 year gap between the LuPone and Audra productions didn’t feel like a wide enough break.

I feel like Lea could’ve been a good Louise once upon a time, but I cannot see her maturing as an actress or singer enough to do the role justice, let alone leave her own stamp on it

Same. It really is the little show that could and has bucked all expectations. Even if it doesn’t run as long as the London production and peter out come 2027, it is undoubtedly a modern success story

Good upward trajectory for CATS. Glad it’s steadily growing, though definitely not cheap to run (even if most of the cast is only making just a smidge above minimum).

The plays are really killing it, which is nice to see.

The next few weeks will be interesting for sure, especially as the remaining shows get their reviews and awards season will be the death knell.

Lot of The Pitt fans, but not overly crowded. Everyone signed except Linda. Madeline prefers not to take pictures.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience at that stage door because the audience is never that big nor does it often attract  ridiculously high budget names. (Even when Common was ther
