This is a show I would definitely see. "Giant" is a great book, it was made into a classic film and LaChiusa doing the score makes it a must-see. At 4 hours in length a New York opening is unlikely, but plenty of shows in BW history were out-of-town marathons until the shears came out. If done thoughtfully, it can tighten what's best and focus the rest. My interest is definitely piqued.

When does its run in Washington end? Cleale is coming back to THE FANTASTICKS very soon.
Dollypop,
It ended at the end of May. It was a short run.

I was so hoping we'd get a recording of this, but apparantly laChiusa himself has said it's not ready to be recorded yet. I guess I can handle that as long as we get one, and not too long off....

"it's not ready to be recorded yet..."
No kidding. The score doesn't work at all, with the songs contributing little to the proceedings. Even the singled-out "He Wanted A Girl" fails to make an impression.
