Hi everyone! I'll hopefully be seeing a show in October and there's an actor that I absolutely love in it. I wanted to get him a gift since he'll be making his Broadway debut. I wanted to make something special for him. I wanted it to be more than a letter but nothing too crazy, I'm just kind of burned out of ideas. I'm not sure that anything I've come up with is very creative. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

1.  Don't know how to suggest anything for "random actor".

2.  A heartfelt letter is likely more appreciated than most things.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Some kind of candy would probably be nice (unless they're diabetic or something). Nothing with chocolate (bad for the voice). You probably couldn't go wrong with jelly beans.

I swear there was a thread like this before...

I'll say what I said that time which is that you don't need to be artistically gifted to "make" a gift. Find a meaningful quote, a bit of sheet music, something relevant to the show, etc. Do a clean job of pasting it down with a nice backing and frame it. Voila! Homemade gift.

If you want to make it fancy, you can make more of a shadow box but I think it's best to stay clean and elegant, especially if you're not confident in your artistic sensibilities or skills.

don't give food to an actor unless you know them VERY well - there is a safety risk for the actor there, so most won't risk eating them. You can also have schmackary's cookies deliver right to the theatre, that's safe and who doesn't like cookies?

Handmade stuff, especially about their show/character is also nice, but I will also stress the importance of a sincere letter. You should also consider a donation to charity in their name, always appreciated (Especially with popular shows like Hamilton where they get a lot of stuff)

Is this a personal friend of yours, or someone you don't know?

If they are a personal friend, then I'm sure you already know their taste and what they need & like.  If not, flowers is the perfect gift.
