I was curious about the Glass Menagerie closing two weeks early. While the attendance has not been good, wouldn't it have been better to continue the run for those additional two weeks to recoup more of the investment? Are theaters booked for the duration of the announced run of a show or do producers have the option to close early to stop the hemorrhaging of an unsuccessful show?

Actually, they would probably be losing money by keeping the production open. The show is playing to less than 50 percent capacity, currently. I'm sure that Jessica Lange and Christian Slater make considerably more than scale. They have to pay rent on the theater. It's not like every dollar goes directly in the pocket of the producer.
