I waited at the Glengarry stage door today (the one that's shared with Avenue Q and Phantom) and everyone came out except for Alan Alda and Jeffrey Tambor. Do they come out of another exit? If so, where is it? I want to meet them.

Alda doesn't sign, and will not when approached. He has a guard escort him out, much like Joanna Gleason at DRS (altho if you catch her going in, she signs). Tambor usually does sign.
Thanks very much for the info! But where does Tambor exit from? Is that big black SUV waiting there for him?

After the performance I saw, Tambor came out the stage door and was very gracious. He signed my playbill and my Arrested Development DVD. Alda didn't come out and the door manager said he never comes out. The rest of the cast all signs.
Oh! I'm so glad! I was waiting with my Arrested Development DVD today and was disappointed that he didn't come out. I'll have to go back. Gordon Clapp signed my NYPD Blue DVD, that was nice. All of the Glengarry guys are so nice. I hope I get to meet Jeffrey Tambor.
Anyone know why Alda is having this attitude problem ?
He should be glad anyone is interested in him

Truth be told I though Alda was horribly miscast and didn't really care about meeting him at all.

Alda has never signed autographs, in fear of EBAY

It looks like he signed at one time or another.
Alan Alda autographs on EBAY

A friend of mine asked Jessica Lange why she started signing autographs after not doing it for a while. She said that she figured that she couldn't control whether people sell them on EBAY or not, so she might as well sign out of common courtesy. Alda should take a hint from her.
Oh wow. And I wanted Alan Alda to sign my MASH DVD. Oh well.
I saw the show on Sunday 7/24 and Jeffrey and Alan came out of the stage door to the Left (if you're looking at the theatre, its the only one with a handle on it!) A Guard came out and made the crowd part and said there would be no autographs that day. Then Jeff and Alan ran through with hats on and heads down and hopped into the limo. What a shame. . . but it is quite a spectacle so if you want to witness this and take pictures for future comic relief I think that would be great. I did!

GET A LIFE!!!
You actually looked on EBAY to see if any autographs of his were on there? If he doesn't want to sign, good for him. Fake his signature, and you can still have the same affect if you had actually gotten his autograph: stupid-ass bragging rights to show off...

because certain people would try to make a buck off of his signature buy selling a signed playbill.

I caught Alda on his way IN to the theater (same door, the one with the handle) and got a handshake, but no autograph. Didn't seem to have an attitude at all, just politely told everyone he didn't have time to sign.
Not trying to open closed wounds but I just received a Playbill in the mail from Glengarry Glen Ross signed by Alan Alda, Liev Schrieber, Jeffrey Tambor, Frederick Weller and Gordon Clapp so maybe if you want an autograph that's the way to go!
I got a signed Playbill as well, sum.
What I don't understand is why he would care if people make money off of his autograph. It doesn't affect him one way or the other... does it? Besides, if that's how these people can make a little money, what's the problem?
PS - What is Schreiber like in person?
Normally, the reason why Alan doesn't sign autographs is because he doesn't want to just sign something, he'd rather shake a hand, or have a small talk with the person. A signature usually has no meaning, but a hand shake does.
I got the chance to go backstage and all the cast was very nice. I didn't ask for autographs or anything. I heard Liev is a really sweet guy. If you haven't seen this show, go see it, it is only playing until the 28th.
I didn't do the stage door thing at GGR, but I went to a screening of The Aviator that had a talk back w/ DiCaprio and Alda, and he was very nice/chatty after the screening/talk back. I saw him outside the theatre chatting it up w/ a couple of people, and it was getting close to midnight at the time. He didn't seem in any hurry to get away. He seemed like a doll. He was hilarious at the talk back and was all smiles afterward.
