So I had tickets for The Little Mermaid back in November, but that was canceled because of the strike. So I got tickets to yesterdays matinee in advance and got tickets for Next To Normal at night.
THE LITTLE MERMAID @ 2 PM:
I've heard so many mixed things about this show so I went in with an open mind. Tons and tons of kids there, some that were probably too young to be at a Broadway show. There was a 4 year old in front of me...Enough said.. Anyways I was mid-mezz center row E. Great view. I open up my playbill to find: At this performance the role of Ariel will be played by Betsy Morgan. I don't know if this was her first time going on because I haven't heard of anything about Sierra missing a show, but I was kind of upset and excited at the same time because I knew I could catch Sierra another time. So the show began and here's my input.
Betsy Morgan - Her World Above was a little shakey, but once she passed that song she blew the roof off the theatre. You could tell she was a little nervous at first, but when it came to Part Of Your World, she blew it out of the water (no pun intender haha). Her acting was tip top and she had perfect chemistry with Sean. I'm so glad I got to see her because she was excellent.
Sean Palmer - Great voice and the kid can dance. I liked his acting a lot too, nothing big about his character though.
Norm Lewis - Oh my what a voice this guy has! He scared the crap out of all the little kids around me with his song in the first act.
Sherry Renee Scott - She stole the show for me. Her voice, acting, stage presence, everything. I love her even more now haha.
All in all the sets, music, and cast was great. Not a spectacular Broadway show, but I loved it because it was a fun day in the theatre..minus all the little kids who can't sit still. I give credit to the actors who do their job while kids don't even pay attention.
Next To Normal @ 7 PM:
I really don't know what to say about this show. It's probably my new favorite show that i've ever seen. I was front row for it which made it even more spectacular. The music was incredible and the cast was perfect. I had an understudy on for Henry, but he was just as great. I wish they had a list of songs in the playbill, but I really hope this moves to Broadway. It would be a shame if this show is never seen again after a few more weeks. I'm not gonna review each person because i'm too lazy, but there wasn't a standout because they all were amazing. The story is so moving and just so realistic. The acting was so great. The music had me tapping my foot and I just didn't even look away from the stage ONCE when I watched this show. I was in shock the entire time and I was so moved when I left. If I had to give this star a 1-10 rating, 1 being bad and 10 being amazing, i'd give it a 15. Please go see this show if you haven't seen it already.
If you guys have any questions feel free to ask :)

Thanks for the reviews Glory! :) SOO glad you loved N2N!! :)
There wasn't a list in the playbill on Tuesday. My guess is there probably won't be at least during this run. I do agree with the people who've said that the titles could give some things away and spoil parts of it for some people. I kind of like the novelty of not knowing (well, on first viewing) how many songs there are ~ I always, no matter how much I love a show, find myself mentally counting down the numbers left, and for me that kind of takes me out of the moment. But I get why some people like them. :)
So how are we going to know the name of the songs then? well just guess?!

It's not really important to know the names of them. Just be in the moment and let them carry you. :) The show works and makes sense without you knowing them.
seriously not knowing how many songs or the titles was great for this show though. It just carried an hour by so quickly that I didn't want intermission or the ending to come lol. The music moves the show so well and I loved the amount of songs because it made the show even better.
Yep! :) I love the ability to just let yourself disappear into their world not knowing the song list gives you.
okay guys... I am already excited for the show! I am seeing it this weekend. I keep listening to LET THERE BE LIGHT, I AM THE ONE, FEELING ELECTRIC, I'M ALIVE, JUST ANOTHER DAY for 1 hour continous in a threadmill last night... lol!
I was really "Feeling Electric" ! that was some serious medicine!!! (from the song's lyrics)

I am so glad you had a great day of theater!
My friend got me tickets to N2N on Saturday for my birthday and I can't wait to see the changes they've made since I saw it in previews!
And it's great to hear that Sierra's understudy was amazing too!
There are some lyric changes... But they're awesome! :)
I kind of enjoy that there is no song list. It basically gives you no clue, before the show starts, on the characters or the plot ahead.
Thanks for your review! Sounds like you had a great time!
