Re: Reimagined THE FANTASTICKS will open on Broadway this fall
So many of you are being incredibly weird about his casting. He sounds great! Let’s wait and see what he actually does in the production.

Re: DAMN YANKEES - 2027 Broadway revisal (Marquis) - Harris, Hough & Scott
The vitriol for this production from the jump is wild. The production is bound to be huge, and with the casting of NPH and Hough they were able to elevate someone like Austin Scott who is an incredible talent. Also I agree with the post about how the show has always been good but not great. I’d wager the average patron who has seen the film or some regional production is going to barely be able to remember what is new.
Re: Sorry Betsy Wolfe, My Least Favorite Audrey Ever
I haven’t seen Betsy Wolfe, but Tammy Blanchard’s Audrey was one of the single worst performances I have ever seen. Utterly bizarre and painful to listen to.

Everyone was there to see a movie so ill-conceived and so baffling and so unhinged and it absolutely delivered. Swift was not nearly the worst in it; she wasn’t even bad at all considering she was a glorified cameo."The joy of also getting to see the original version which contained dancers feet mysteriously falling into the CGI floor and Judi Dench’s human hand was unmatched.

"Merrily" at Signature
GetUp&LiveIt said: "The changes between the licensed version and revival are minimal. Will be interesting to see if Signature incorporates some/all of the changes. I loved Maria's production but the narrative that she fixed the script is wrong. It's been the same script for years after productions at La Jolla, Arena, etc in the 90s."This is incorrect - ultimately they are minor adjustments but the script is different. Almost every scene of the current licensed version ends with someone yellin...
"Merrily" at Signature
DottieD'Luscia said: "Is the book from the recent revival the licensed version of this show?"I don’t believe so unfortunately. There aren’t major differences but enough where it would be good to have them adjusted. The worst part of the current licensed version is Gussie’s number at the top of act two. The Broadway revival and the City Center production both orchestrated that number to have a big impressive finish (the Broadway revival even added some background vocals), but the current versi...
BAT BOY : The Musical at NYCC Encores!
Inside Your Heart is great and that new song sounds like a second rate Heathers track. Haven’t loved what I’ve heard of the rewrites so far…
CHESS Previews
I certainly think the FUNNY GIRL goodwill will ultimately push her to a nomination, especially considering it would be her first. But that’s probably as far as it goes.

This seems like such a weird thing to create public beef over, especially as an attempt to earn some feminist cred. This reminds me of when Morgan James (remember her?) tweeted about how bad the singing was in the INTO THE WOODS park revival and the theater community essentially put her out on an ice floe."Oh the Morgan James INTO THE WOODS tweet. What a time to be alive!
RAGTIME 2025 Previews
I have some quibbles (mainly staging based) but WOW what an evening. The 90 minute first act flys by in what feels like the blink of an eye. This entire production feels like we hit the collective lottery.I have to disagree with the previous poster on Nichelle Lewis. I thought she was absolutely sensational, and not vocally out of step with anyone else. Caissie Levy also sings the score with a more contemporary belt, and it sounds in keeping with the music. Also I’m thankful someone else poin...
DEATH BECOMES HER - Replacement Cast?

DEATH BECOMES HER - Replacement Cast?
Does anyone know who the Helen alternate is going to be? I remember hearing someone saying the contract was signed.

What's next for Laura Benanti?
She’s been pretty vocal that doing 8 shows a week again while she has small children would be challenging, and the show would need to be really worth it. She’s explicitly said she wants to play Fosca in PASSION and Desiree in NIGHT MUSIC. I’d like to add Phyllis in FOLLIES to that list as well.
Carrie Coon & Namir Smallwood in BUG - December 2025 at MTC Friedman
Hard to imagine this will be able to extend? The Gilded Age was just renewed for a fourth season and I assume filming will begin at some point early 2026?
Ariana DeBose to lead THE BAKER'S WIFE at Classic Stage Company
Love her and glad she’s returning to Broadway after some truly god awful film choices. Not sure she’d be my first choice to hear sing Meadowlark but willing to be proven wrong!
