Posted: 8/14/03 at 3:23pmDollypop...I can understand the songs easily. The show is in a historical church, which means no sound system. It is mainly the lines I can't understand. Some of the actors do have terrible diction, though.

Posted: 8/14/03 at 3:36pmIn The production I'm in now, we don't use our first names. We pick different names special to us. We have to have a significant reason to pick the name. Some named it after a cousin, an old realtive, etc. That way, it has more meaning to the cast. We are definitely adding pop culture references to make it seem like it happened today. And osmeone said that one production's "Tower Of Babble" was people on their way to work, and John the Baptist made his entrance as a homeless man. I love this idea, but it wouldnt work, because the prologue is sung by different philosophers stating their views about life and god. That can be changed, though. Hmmm...I'm liking that idea.

Posted: 8/14/03 at 3:41pmlet loose isnt the word, she shows off her 7 octive range!!! lol, ok whatever the hell she does she just let's it rip. honestly she's too good for that cast, and even to be ensemble in Hairspray, but honestly what do you do when someone is too good?? I would still die to hear her sing "Let's hear it for the Boy"!

Posted: 8/14/03 at 3:41pmShe would sound amazing singing that song. I think she would be an amazing Millie! She would floor everyone with her versions of the songs from that show.

Not to beat the names thing to death, but I had to respond to Billy Lawlor re: choosing "special" names.
Actually, that works, too...because the reason is to PERSONALIZE it for YOU, the performer. GODSPELL doesn't work, as I said, unless you have some personal investment in what you're doing. To me, choosing your own cast name can do that on some level.
I was just railing against some schmo using the name "Lamar" because it's in the script. It's not the CHARACTER's name, it's the original cast member's name.

Posted: 8/14/03 at 11:14pmDarn! I am pissed. I got the wrong CD. I got the 2001 National Touring Cast. I should have known, the cast is on the back. What does the cover look like?

Posted: 8/14/03 at 11:17pmThe cover of the 2001 off-broadway cast has a photo of the entire cast lined up together in a 'V' formation on the front with Barrett Foa at the center in Jeans and a white sweater witha yellow sunburst on an urban looking set with the title above and it says that it is the 2001 off-broadway cast. the back cover has the cast grouped together with the director with Barrett kneeling in front and it lists the full cast and all of the tracks.
