Hey all! For my birthday I will be going to NY (my first trip ever! either in during thanksgiving or christmas)and I just wanted to get some advice from people who enjoy theatre as much as I do! I just have a couple of questions!
1. I really want to see Wicked (now before everyone starts in on me for seeing Wicked, just let me say I just really enjoy the show and I heard Kate Reinders was awesome so I want to pay the Gershwin a visit! So could I please get a serious answer?) so could any one tell me where the best place to sit is? And should I go with the limited view seating?
2. Is Altar Boyz worth seeing? A friend of mine liked it but I'm not so sure. And again, were would be a nice place to sit?
3. What other shows would you recomend for me? There are so many great ones out there, I cant chose which one I might want to check out!
And just any general advice I could get would be awesome! Like places to get cheap tickets places to see, stuff like that! There is so much I want to do and see while we are there and it is all just a little over whelming! Thanks everyone!

Posted: 6/8/06 at 10:11pmI saw Kate in Chicago in Wicked and she was great in it. It was one of her first performances, so I imagine she's only gotten better in the role. I'd definently recommend seeing the show if you haven't seen it before. It's a great show.

Okay, so definitely see Wicked. Although it is making it's rounds throughout the states, there's nothing like the New York cast!
Alter Boyz is good, very hilarious. And, it'd be perfect to see if you want to see a relatively cheaper show.
As for the other shows, you have to think of what OBC you'd rather see. Personally, I would go see Sweeney Todd, because you'll never get to see Michael and Patti perform like the way they do again.
As for any other show, think about a play. The History of Boys specifically, because it is AMAZING!!!!
As for other things. Hit up your comedy clubs, go deep downtown to some really great clubs (if you're of age), and Central Park after midnight (totally kidding about the latter).
Hope this helps!

Awesome thanks for the advice so far! I am interested about what every one is saying about Drowsey and Sweeny. Would they be good for my little brother to see? And I am concerned about seats for Wicked. Is there a site were I could get some good seats would you suggest the limited view ones? And I think I may have heard about a place in NY were you can get same day tickets for cheap. I cant remember the name, does such a place even exsist (sp?)?

Posted: 6/8/06 at 10:55pmIf you are talking about TKTS, they don't sell tix for Wicked, If you choose this show, you will probably have to pay about a 100 dollars, the limited view seats as far as i know, are single seats, although i might be wrong. I highly recommend The Wedding Singer if you are a teenager.

Posted: 6/8/06 at 10:55pmFor "Wicked", it's IMPOSSIBLE to get seats the same day unless you win lotto.. they are NOT on TKTS. I suggest if you want to see the show and find tickets on line, buy them now.. As far as your little brother.. I don't think Sweeney would be good for anyone under 14 years old. It's a bit dark. It's incredible and mind blowing but, younger kids may not understand it and also might be grossed out. Drowsy is for ALL ages. It is SO SO SO SO good. I had NO desire to see it at first and now i've seen it 2 times and I am going back again. It's just so fun.
