Presenters of the Golden Globe Awards receive a giftbag worth $56,000 of goodies. Included are tickets to WOMAN IN WHITE.
Just FYI.
Geez presenters are given an awful lot...

CapNHook...
Howd you know that?
Actually, it was tickets, a calendar, OCR, magnet and t-shirt
$56,000 just for reading an autocue?
Not like the celebs can't afford the stuff in the basket...

Dang. I can't believe they get that much for just reading a teleprompter.
yes, well, I can't believe athletes get paid as much as they do for slamming somebody into the ground. That's just the way the world works

Yet teachers, police officers, and firefighters sometimes can barely make ends meet.
Sometimes America makes me sick.
But that's a diffent topic.

im suprised theyre getting woman in white tickets, why not a more popular show like spamalot or drs...
interesting!
I may be wrong, but I would think that different organizations can choose to donate things for the gift baskets. If that were true, it would mean that the show chose to be a part of the gifts. It makes more sense for The Woman in White to do that than a more popular show because they aren't selling out anyway, so they aren't losing much money by giving away some tickets. If anything it'll help get the word out about the show.
ETA: If there happen to be any Golden Globe presenters or nominees on this message board who do not want their Woman in White tickets, feel free to pass them on to me.

E! actually always advertises for the show. E! is a big sponser of the Globes and they do the Red Carpet show, so that could be a reason.

They're giving WIW tickets because there are fewer and fewer people every week who are willing to actually PAY for them.

Is that the only way they can get people to go see that show?
Also, probably if a prominent celeb gets their hands on the tickets and actually sees the show, that could get the word out...people tend to follow what the celebs think.

I haven't seen "Match Point," but apparently the London version of "The Woman in White" played some part in the plot of the movie. Since "Match Point" was nominated for at least one Golden Globe award, perhaps that is part of the reason WIW tickets were included in the gift bags.
in the movie they go see WIW in London and you can see the theater, and numerous sound clips from the show. It's not particularly obvious and striking and, isn't a huge ploy to boost ticket sales, but it is a form of publicity none-the-less so I'll take it!

Actually, you're all wrong..
the woman in white was invited to participate in the golden globes after a partnership with instyle magazine...
now leave the show alone
Ellen Degeneres just gave 3 items from the presenter gift bags to each person in the audience: cashmire travel wrap, in style dining books, and a vacuum. lol.
