That's 2 January closings announced so for. I don't think it'll be as bad as last year, but I'm wondering if more announcements are on their way...
EDIT: My apologies. 3. Marvelous Wonderettes is closing too.

This show deserved a longer run.
It was on my list of things to see during my Spring NYC trip. I didn't enjoy the composer's Memphis but this looked like a fun, harmless romp. Hopefully the tour will come my way.
This is real sad. I loved this sw. It diserved a much longer run.

That's exactly what it is. And Nancy Opel is a powerhouse in this.
Just noticed that they have no extra nights off Thanksgiving week. There will be a show on Thanksgiving but no discounts available. I can understand no discounts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday but how many people would go to a show on Thanksgiving?
That's a shame. I thought the show was absolutely hysterical. Hope more people get to check it out before it goes!!!

I was going to fly in around March to see this hilarious show.Cast is great and I especially wanted to see Diana Degarmo. Wonder if she heard before flying off to Nashville for the CMA awards on tomorrow?
I've seen it twice, and it's an excellent show. Brain food it's not, but man is it hilarious. And the voices are killer! I'll have to check it out again before January!

Too bad. I saw the show not too long ago and loved it. I have to wonder if the producers plan to ask some of the cast to join the touring production. Asking Nancy Opel to be in the touring production is almost a no-brainer, except I doubt she'd want to do a tour.
I also wonder when the cast was told? Demond Green has been out for several shows (probably no connection) and Diana Degarmo is supposedly involved in "secret" rehearsals for an as yet unannounced reading. She appears to have had something else lined up for at least a little while.

Nearly all of the current limited runs on Broadway are closing in January, so it will seem bad on the 3rd, even if most of the shows had announced that date from the beginning.
January 3, 2010 closing
BURN THE FLOOR
GOD OF CARNAGE
WHITE CHRISTMAS
SHREK
WISHFUL DRINKING
January 10, 2010 closing
THE 39 STEPS
IN THE NEXT ROOM
Also, I'd be willing to bet that A STEADY RAIN will announce an extension through the holidays, to close January 3, provided its stars are available (which I know is a big if).

God of Carnage is running through February.
Where do you see that? Telecharge is selling through the spring, but Playbill lists a closing date of January 3rd and I can't find anything announcing an extension.
I really wouldn't lump White Christmas, Burn the Floor, and Wishful Drinking in there. Limited runs (one that got extended) that always intended on bowing out on those dates.
I did miss 39 Steps. It had a nice run (thought I understand it didn't recoup). What a wonderful evening of theatre, too!

God damn it!
Wishful Drinking has been extended to Jan 17.
Basely: I said in my post that those were limited runs. But they are still closing that day, which means that there will still be a lot of shows closing at the same time.
A bunch of the shows that closed on January 4th last year were limited runs.
