Posted: 1/4/09 at 10:15pmSaw the show this afternoon. Michelle Ragusa is a real gift to the show. I truly hope she performs on Broadway again after YF. I never got to see Fitzgerald as Igor but Cory English was hilarious. Kelly Sullivan is a charming Inga but really had nothing to work with. Linda Muggleston was on for Frau Blucher and was great. I'm partial to Beth Leavel, but Linda didn't let me down. Shuler Hensley was wonderful and just adorable as the Monster. Loved Fred Applegate as Kemp/Hermit. A real highlight. Roger Bart could not have been a better Frankenstein. I just love this mans voice. Never gave a dull performance the nights I was there. Great last performance, everyone was pretty spot on. Extra loud applauses tonight on "Life, life" and "Puttin' on the Ritz". After curtain call, Roger acknowledged the producers, and said a few thank yous. Cast was teary, but it got really sweet when Roger himself, broke down and cried when thanking Mel Brooks. Roger explained how he performed to make people happy and that's the joy he gets from performing, no matter how much money he earns (well, so he says haha...) Great end to a fun show.

Sounds like a not so subtle reference to the fact that Mel made them all take a pay cut this summer!

Posted: 1/5/09 at 12:49amNot really. Cory did his "it was me" speech as Richard Nixon tonight, but he's done that before (he's done it as the Cowardly Lion, Jimmy Stewart, and even Santa Claus). The ending was really bittersweet, and it is sad that all these great performers are not immediately moving on to something bigger and better due to the economy. They're all so talented. Sad I won't get to see them all in one place so often.

Posted: 1/5/09 at 12:52amYeah, very sweet indeed. Adamgreer, I don't think I worded that right, it was more like "As actors, some of us don't earn a lot of money... well some of us, but it's still about making people happy. That's why I do it." I don't think he was trying to hint at anything. He genuinely thanked Mel for the many opportunities he's given him. Presumably, that was the last performance he'll give in a Mel Brooks musical so it was probably emotional for him since Mel loved Roger. Well, it was really touching and I definitely teared up a bit. I don't remember any adlibs expect maybe a few added "What the F--ks" by some characters. It was funny. I had a great time. Did any of the cast come out through the stage door afterwards? (and by cast, I mean principals.)

Unfortunately, I was unable to see this show due to budget. I wanted to take the family to see some of the closing shows over Christmas break.
The family was able to watch both Spamalot AND Gypsy for less than YF would have costs. I'm glad I got to see those, but would have liked to see YF, also.

Thank you for starting this thread, I was just reading two negative ones that were making me angry.
If you don't worry about what tickets cost, or Mel's ego, or any other back story, and just enjoy the show, it is a good show.
I laughed a lot and enjoyed great performances. I often listen to the OBC and laugh again remember the good time I had watching the show.

Posted: 1/5/09 at 9:50pmI agree sally1112 also Mel Brooks did have a lottery for front row seats. I think I paid full price 5 times out of all the times I saw the show. The rest I won trying the lottery. This was one great show.
