Anyone know the possibility that the Goodspeed Carousel will transfer to Broadway? The clips look very good, but getting out there doesn't look easy without a car.

There are HOPES that it might transfer. "Hope" doesn't always transfer to reality.
It is a marvelous production, though.

The cost of transferring to Broadway vs the cost of renting a car?
I'm terrible at cost-benefit analyses, so I would say it will probably transfer.
How are the orchestrations? I've heard they're not the originals, which is why I was skeptical about going to Goodspeed to see it. I think CAROUSEL needs a big orchestra.

The performance I saw was only the 2nd or 3rd time the orchestra played the whole score. As they are mostly local musicians and may not be collecting a paycheck from this gig, I don't think it would be fair for me to comment about their musicianship.

The Goodspeed orchestra is comprised of professional musicians, all of whom, assuredly, receive a paycheck. And their musicianship, given sufficient rehearsal, is of a perfectly respectable order.
But what about the acting?

Probably the actors are volunteers, too.

I know they hadn't had enough rehearsal time.

I saw it last night, and really enjoyed it! Loved James Snyder as Billy. I haven't heard anything about a Broadway transfer, but I doubt that it will happen. What was the last Goodspeed show to transfer to Broadway?

I'm sure the musicians are all very good. But how big is the orchestra? It it the original set of orchestrations?
i was there last night as well, it's a great production. very well-acted and sung all around. i didn't really buy james snyder's tough-guy swagger-- he seemed to be pushing it a little too hard-- but his voice is wonderful and so was his "soliloquy". the reduced orchestra bothered me a little during the prologue but once the show got underway i hardly noticed. definitely worth the trip if you can make it.
regarding a transfer (conceivable or not), this production is pretty small-scale; after watching the prologue from the '94 revival on youtube and reading everyone's love letters to it i wonder if it's been long enough for any production not to still be dwarfed by its memory.
