It is definately time for a well done revival of this show. I would love to see Chita in the Montavecci role, that I know. Who would any of you like to see in these roles, This show has so many diverse and colorful characters I think. We need a strong & dashing Baron and someone who can be at least half as charming as Michael Jeter was as Otto. It would play for years in the right house, like Studio 54 perhaps for the double decker effect? Anyone else adore this show?

Umm... Chita is 25 years too old for the role. Grusinskaya is supposed to be no older than her late 40's.

Oh my - I had no idea her character was in that age range. Well, we shall have to choose another Grusinskaya then as well. I'll have to think about it a while, I believe I have the CD here close, perhaps I'll give it a listen tonight and see who comes to mind, and everyone plese feel free to add your favorites. It was/is such a wonderful show indeed.

Well Lilliane Montevecchi and Cyd Charisse were in their late 50s and 60s respectively.

Gru is supposed to be long past the career point, still touring to make money so her managers can pay off the debts. Chita could be quite wonderful and touchingly vulnerable in thr role. And if teh baron is cast and younga nd hadsome in his 30s it would add tension to their scenes.

In other words Chita could hide 10-15 years of age and cover it with good acting!

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Because we all know that age matters on the stage anyway.

I did the show with Liliane in 99--she was brilliant at whatever early 70ish age she was, thus Chita would be fab.

There was a very good revival in London at the Donmar with Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio. Mastrantonio never persuaded me that she might have been a dancer but nonetheless acted the part the best I've ever seen.

YES YES YES!

A revival of this show MUST happen soon. One of my all-time favorite shows, and I saw it on Broadway more times than I'd like to admit. I think Michael Cerveris would be a terrific Baron. Julia Murney is my choice for Raffaela. I think Joanna Gleason would be a phenomenal Elizaveta.
