....specific to Poland or one of those countries with "-ski" last names, I guess....haha
It was changed to Olsson (I've heard) because it's of Austrailian origin, like Olivia Newton-John.
A minor and completely unnecessary continuity change the movie made.

Ha, that's a logical thought, as well. I do see where you're coming from, questioning the "it's more specific" comment.
Either there was some editing done to the end of her remark or Laura's...well....dumbrowski.

Olivia Newton-John was born in England and raised in Australia, therefore she ain't Australian. Also, Mel Gibson was born in New York City and raised in Australia -- therefore he ain't Australian either.

And John Kerry's wife was born in South Africa, so she's African-American!
Technicalities, technicalities.

The joke in the original production of GREASE is that the show took place in a South Side suburb of Chicago famous for its Polish (Dumbrowski) and Italian (Zuko) rivalry. Actually most of the characters in the Pink Ladies/Burger Palace boys have either an Italian, Polish or Lithuanian surname (The Lituanians were rivals to both the Polish and Italians).
It was just an in joke for Jacobs and Warren who wrote the show based on their friends and experiences as youth in Chicago.
So maybe thats what she means by specific. I'm sure Jacobs probably told them the history of the characters.

It's "Hopelessly," you're right. Either it was the writer's error or, as I said before, Laura's just....dumb-rowski.
Either way, I still think it's ridiculously funny that the 3 most well known (and arguably best) songs in the show - the 3 they're adding - weren't penned by Jacobs and Casey.

Oh I think the three best known songs even from the movie are Summer Nights, We Go Together and You're the One that I Want. So two out of three are original.
I do find it mildly amusing however, that almost all the songs featured on the tv show are the ones that Warren/Jacobs didn't write.
And Max is the one that called the song "Hopefully Devoted to You" - assuming its not the error of the article writer (more likely).

During beauty School, when Frankie Avalon sings, "Now I've called the shot, get off the pot...(watch Stockard's face, it's priceless.) Looks like she's playing "oops, I'm busted for smokin". Its very subtle and very funny...

I saw a touring production in the mid nineties with Sally Struthers (and I think Deborah Gibson and Micky Dolenz?) and I don't remember many curse words. I just remember Teen Angel- who was black and had like a huge purple pomp. It was awesome.
I saw it with a jr. high group and Kenickie said our schools name in the show. Of course we all went nuts. It was grosss when you think about it. "I was cruising for chicks at ____ jr. high." ew.

"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!"

If they were true to the original, wouldn't fans of the TV show and movie be confused?
Wasn't the revival closer to the movie (ex: using Dumbrowski)? If so, can't they make it more like the revival? Wouldn't it be more recognizable?
