Going to New York soon and might see great comet, is it appropriate for kids age range 10-13?

It's a very fast-moving show with Russian names. They may not comprehend a lot of what's going on. However it's very visually fun to watch. The adult content is handled fairly discreetly with mentions of promiscuity between Anatole and his sister may not be appropriate for your children. It's probably for you to decide.

I don't think a 10 year old would really be able to appreciate the show, but it shouldn't scar them for life or anything. Pretty sure "burning lips pressed to mine" is about as sexy as it gets.

I just took my four nieces and nephews, ages 8 - 13, to the Wednesday matinee. They read the synopsis online in advance, and I even printed out the one that used to be in the Playbill as a reference, too. The 8 y/o likes the running around, dancing, and the spectacle, but (as expected), didn't get much more than that out of it. The rest (aged 10, 12, and 13) followed along fine. They mainly follow Natasha's storyline, Pierre not as much.
Comet has no overt element that is inappropriate, and no cursing. But there are little things that they may or may not see that might be slightly sexual/offensive, but usually when there is so much happening onstage, the odds are against them finding them and even registering what just happened before it's over.

My 9 year old saw it and loved it. She a Josh Groban fan so we went to one of his last performances. I think it depends on the child. My daughter sees a lot of shows, and could not get over the whole theatrical aspect of the show.

it is actually quite easy to follow along with the plot. you might want to read a summary before hand, but it should be fine. the whole spectacle of it will be really fun. the last time i saw it, there was a nine year old girl right in my line of sight who was completely mesmerized by the show.
the female lead, natasha rostova, moves in a very disney princess-ish way that kids often fall in love with. lucas steele's role, anatole, is portrayed in a comedic way, almost like a russian gaston.
the only curse word i can think of is sl*t. A LOT of references to drinking but 10-13 yr old kids will most likely be able to handle it.
the most sexual line in the show would probably be "i will make love to her" but it's a quick line that is easy to miss honestly.
there are a lot of sexual themes: the chemistry between natasha and anatole, the whole anatole/dolokhov/hélène dynamic, but it will definitely go right over a child's head.
there is one scene in which there are a lot of sexual dance moves. A LOT. but over the insane strobe lights, it's hard to see.
overrall, this is a production that kids would absolutely love, with all of the interaction and egg shakers and pierogies and fun things. i would not hesitate to take kids to see it. it's a great way to introduce them to literature, history, and broadway.

I took my 7 year old son and 9 year old daughter to it recently. They love both albums and I've explained the story line repeatedly to them. They both loved it and ask often to go back. There are definitely some "racier" scenes, but to be honest, a lot of it went over their heads. I've seen the show 4 times (going for a 5th next week!) and I still haven't been able to take it all in fully either. My kids will sing the word "slut" but they don't know what it means (and hopefully refrain from singing at school).
We were in the front mezz on the aisle, which was perfect in terms of view and being close to the women's bathroom. We raced out of there at intermission and were the first in line.
Someone at the show brought her 5 year old so at least mine weren't the youngest!

Just want to second what has been said. I think most of it would go over their heads, but it depends on the child. Definitely the worst part of the show is during the strobe light sequence, but as has been stated the lights are so overwhelming it is hard to tell anyway. My husband and I were seated on the very back row in the center, and during the strobe lights two of the women in the ensemble were passionately kissing right in front of us, just as a heads up because that wasn't something I expected to see in the show.

Personally, I think they will be bored out of their minds unless they go to shows a lot. i saw the show and enjoyed it quite a bit, but found myself getting restless when the stage business wasn't keeping my interest. The score is hard for an adult to appreciate on first listening; I can't imagine that not being more true for kids. Really, do yourself and them a favor and take them to any number of shows for which you can get tickets (depending on how soon you re going), many on TKTS the day of the performance. Don't know what you / they have seen, but any of these would be more fun for them: School of Rock, Anastasia, Wicked, Kinky Boots (don't rule it out if you / they have not seen it -- this is a PG-13 very warm musical whose story is simple, whose humor is obvious, etc.), Phantom, Hello Dolly if Donna Murphy is performing, Aladdin, Lion King, Beautiful (simple story, a lot of songs that they have probably heard even if they are not aware of them), even Miss Saigon, although you should know that there are a couple of numbers that are pretty lurid. Everyone of them is a better choice for kids 10 - 13.
Stay away from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...I know no-one who liked it at all (have to admit that I have not seen it). And. Cats. Stinks..
