Okay, here's my list...

Stevie Wonder
Joan Crawford (because let's face it...she was Mommie Dearest!)
Marilyn Monroe
The guys who do the Absolut Vodka Adds...they're pure genious!

Will Mahoney: a long forgotten dancing comedian who headlined at the Palace in the '30s and was bigger than Eddie Cantor and Jack Benny for a time. He was Tony nommed for a revival of "Finian's Rainbow".

Think of the scene where she stabs her mobster boyfriend, Johnny Stampanato, and then blames it on her daughter.

I even have a title:

"IMITATION OF IMITATION OF LIFE."

CATS, there was a West End musical in the '60s called MAN OF MAGIC which starred Stuart Damon (Lesley Ann's Prince Charming in "Cinderella") and told the life of Houdini, but I just spoke to someone tonight involved in a new Houdini show which is being premiered in...wait for it...Iceland! (Yes, I asked if he'd seen Bjork and he said she's everywhere, she's ubiquitous.) It's to be launched on an unsuspecting world in a few months.

I haven't seen anyone who could capture Judy yet. I don't know that I'd want to see anyone try in a Broadway musical.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr........it is amazing there has never been a major musical or major motion picture about this man's life..........

the drama, the intrigue, the emotions! what a great basis for any kind of theatrical production.

There has been one written about MLKJr....it's called Ragtime! haha...sorry, Coalhouse always reminds me of him...not that I knew him...

All good suggestions guys. I think that the only person who could've done a good enough Judy Garland is her daughter, Liza Minelli, but she's way too far gone for that stuff now...

Keely Smith was a native American who at a VERY young age married the outrageous bandleader Louis Prima and became a Las Vegas headliner in the 50's & 60's. I have always thought her life would be a natural for the stage.

Ethel Merman is a fantastic character, too with an amazing story to tell. I'm afraid though that her style of singing would have to be greatly softened for a contemporary audience. You could have an amazing score by just using songs that she introduced to the world: Anything Goes, De Lovely, Friendship, I Got Rhythm, Old Fashioned Wedding...gosh there's a dozen classics at least....

Sadly enough, there is a musical about Jerry Springer, about to close in the West End

And it's even more sad that when people find out I grew up in Chicago, usually the only questions they ask me relate to Jerry Springer or Oprah.
