"They're obviously trying to make it seem as though the show is a big success."
Um, the show is a big success, Dodo. Christine has been lauded like no other performer in history; a bravura new role has been added to the repertory; the authors have been showered with accolades and awards. The transformation from cult documentary to Broadway saturation has been nothing short of extraordinary.
I understand the sentiment behind finding it laughable that a replacement is being sought given the show's numbers, but these producers are COMMITTED to this show, as they should be. There have been various rumors that different women want in with this show (Lesley Ann Warren and Kathie Lee Gifford were two specific names), though lord knows if they could do it.
Nevertheless, I love GG and hope it sees a life after Ebersole, who is, of course, brilliant.
"They're playing 50% full houses in May 2007 mostly because of Ebersole's performance, and they're searching for a replacement for October? That's laughable. "
Of course they're keeping it open to October!! They have to so that they can do the reality show to cast Christine's replacement...duh.
No they were not mentally ill, they were from America's aristocracy and were thus "eccentric".
If any of us lived in a decaying house with 50 cats and racoons tearing apart one of the walls you can be certain that we would be considered to be mentally ill.
"I have got to have some professional music!" - Big Edie
Fabulous news indeed! I wonder if Matt Cavenaugh will parade his bod across the country?
"I'm learning to dig deep down inside and find the truth within myself and put that out. I think what we identify with in popular music more than anything else is when someone just shares a truth that we can relate to. That's what I'm searching for in my music." - Ron Bohmer
"I broke the boundaries. It wasn't cool to be in plays- especially if you were in sports & I was in both." - Ashton Kutcher
