My family is taking a road trip and we are stopping in NYC in about 2 weeks and seeing one show. We've narrowed it down to these two.
Groundhog Day for sure. It is far superior to Anastasia in every way.
It depends on your family. If you have young girls in your group then Anastasia. If you have little boys,, then given those two options then Groundhog. Neither show is the best.
Groundhog Day. Only because it seems as though Anastasia will be around longer.

@Margo I have noticed most shows you like are flops.
I guess it also depends on what time you're going. Some have predicted GHD will be closing soon. Anastasia will stick for at least a year, easy. So it really depends on what month you're going or if you'll be going to NYC again sometime in the near future.
I'll be the lonely Anastasia vote then. I loved the show, it was beautiful! The costumes, sets, score, cast, story; everything. I was completely satisfied with it, and would gladly see it again. It's one of my absolute favorites.

Wayyyy different, but Groundhog Day, fer sure.
I also fell head over heels in love with Anastasia, and I recommend it to anyone, regardless of age or gender. But honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. If you have younger children in the group, I'd definitely say Anastasia, though, because a lot of GHD's humor might go over their heads. But if the group is a bit older, I agree with those who are saying GHD might be the smarter choice simply because it's not likely to be there on your next trip. Hope you all enjoy whichever show you choose!

GHD, no contest in my opinion. I have a daughter that loved the movie, loves Disney-esque musicals as much as she likes deeper or edgier ones, and would say she was semi-bored at Anastasia (I was beyond bored). She loved GHD.
I've seen both and enjoyed Groundhog Day much more than Anastasia (so much so that I returned to see Groundhog Day a second time).
There are many on this board who loved Anastasia, but it looked and sounded like a second-rate Disney knockoff to me. The show ostensibly presents itself as an historical piece, but it came off more as a fairy tale to me.
Groundhog Day runs the gamut of emotions; it's very funny and cleverly staged, but also deals with serious themes. Andy Karl is brilliant in the lead role.
thank you guys! my family decided in favor of Groundhog Day! and we got our seats for a great price! thank you!
