Posted: 1/18/05 at 10:45pmEvery year my school choir puts on a concert called "Night on Broadway" This year I am prez of choir so i get to choose all the group songs! But I need ideas! Usually every year we do medlys of musicals and im just sick of that. there are so many ensemble songs that are just so great! keep in mind that we are not a huge choir, nor incredibly good :-/ so the songs need to be as simple but really fun! SAB or SATB preferably.. originally i wanted to do "Heart and Music" from A New Brain but I REALLY don't think we can pull it off. Any other suggestions??

seasons of love is so over done! its a good song but once a million people have done it, its time to do something else. if i was able to pick a song for my school'd chior to sing i would go for something really good that not a lot of people know
we dance- once on this island
We Go Together- grease
Ragtime- Ragtime (highly recommended!)
if you want a song with a solo(s) or something there are many more that i can recommend

omg i was totally going to say "heart and music" and then i saw the end of your post an i was like...never mind. i was in a musical revue last summer and we had some amazing group songs, including "heart and music". the others were:
why we tell the story--once on this island
our time--merrily we roll along
on my way--violet
and others...but those are the best ones for choir.
good luck.

Posted: 1/20/05 at 4:18pmSeasons of Love may be overdone, but it is a great choir song....Depending on whether the choir consists of more girls than boys or not, Do You Hear The People Sing(Les Misérables) would be a fun one. Oh, and you could have a few soloists and the choir do You Can't Stop the Beat(Hairspray). Just my suggestions!

Theme from Ave. Q .... or you could try FOR NOW from Ave. Q. but it might not work if the choir's too big...
and definitely try for a Les mis song...
and ONE from a chorus line would be very interesting.

I agree with "The Best of Times." It's such an upbeat number and very happy...if I were you, I'd look into that.
And, wearingabarrel, you say "Seasons of Love" is overdone and then you recommend "We Go Together." Talk about overdone.
