That's really too bad for people who have tickets to that performance.
I have tickets for Friday; hopefully they're ready by then.

I'm not really shocked by this. The theater is totally not finished from the outside.
That's true, but shouldn't they have known before today? They cancelled tonight's performance a long time ago, so I would have expected them to know if they also needed to cancel tomorrow's in advance.
Damn. That's too bad.

Sure does suck. Had a ticket for the performance and arranged my trip around the damn thing and there's no way in hell I'll be back in NYC for a while, well foreseeable future, so can't attend another performance.
As people have stated above the amount of construction that is still around NT, it's no surprise at all that they've been cancelling previews.
I am willing to bed that it is because the theatre isn't ready yet. I kinda felt that it was going to take a longer then they had stated for the theatre to be finished. I mean, it's New York. Construction projects ALWAYS take longer to finish then originally stated.

My own rule is that if I am paying money to see a preview, it won't be the first few or even the first week. Comps are another story--like the ones I have for the first preview of Story-Life tonight.
Delays like this happen and anyone who has walked past the Nederlander in the last week knew they wouldn't be ready.
Even when shows are "ready" for the first preview, they aren't anywhere near "ready".
Is it likely that they'll push it back again, or is one extra day enough time to fix whatever they're working on?

I think it's unlikely the delay is related to the renovations, and if it is, it isn't getting fixed in a day.
I know little of this production of Guys and Dolls, but I know Des McAnuff's work, and I'd bet anything there's lots of trapdoors and moving objects, and they're a bit behind in their tech. This stuff can be very hazardous. Bummer for those who have tickets, but good for the production for taking more time to make it safe.
ETA: Just read the article Rob linked to. Says right in it:
"The production is delaying its first preview (for the second time) to allow for an extra day of needed technical rehearsal".

You will see soon enough that this version is much more technical then the most recent revival. A lot of time and care has been spent to make sure it goes off cleanly. The theater is also finishing it's last minute touches. The renovation is beautiful...
I went to the box office this morning to exchange my 2/4 tickets for 2/5. I hope they are ready by Thursday!!

I figured. Des loves his gadgetry, but he is always the first to call a halt the minute anything looks unsafe, even when it loses him time. I've always respected him for that.
Thanks for the info, Dr Vincento. Looking forward to seeing it.

I've heard that this production makes use of the technology WOMAN IN WHITE helped introduce.

Yes and no, yankee. It will definitely be included in the reviews of the show, for sure.
