Remember when John rando was a tony award winner for Urinetown and the city bowed at his feet.. and then Did dance of the vampires and he has been relegated to regional theater land..except for Toxic Avenger. I think he is a talented director. Maybe instead of hiring all these directors who keep putting up boring show after boring show, or choreographers trying to do both...we should bring mr. rando back to broadway for one more try..Thoughts?

double post. see below.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

I'd hardly say the city ever bowed at Rando's feet. Aside from Urinetown (and, to a lesser extent, that one Neil Simon play), most of his shows were less than successful and didn't particularly stand out for their directorial prowess. He has worked a lot at Encores over the years--he did DAMN YANKEES, ON THE TOWN, DO RE MI, FACE THE MUSIC, OF THEE I SING, and some other shows--and has done some visible Off Broadway work since DotV. Also, THE WEDDING SINGER on Broadway.

Personally, I'd label him a competent and professional director, but nothing special.
