Gypsy Question

So, I was just recently cast as a Hollywood Blonde/Toreadorable/Stripper and I was just curious as to what I will be doing? I'm not terribly familiar with the show I'm afraid... *shame*

You'll be in the secod act of the show. The Hollywood Blondes/Toreadorables are basically the chorus girls in Mama Rose's vaudeville act that she's building around her new star, Louise. It's not a huge part, but getting to be involved with Gypsy, no matter in what aspect, is just plain awesome in my opinion. As long as you have a great actor and vocalist playing the lead, the show is fool proof.

well i gotta say lol i have no idea about anyone yet I just got cast tonight... but here's to hoping all turns out wonderfully! There was a lot of talent at the callbacks... thanks so much!

You have just been cast in one of the best-written, classic, almost perfect shows there ever was or will be. Look around you, listen and learn, it will be a great experience.

Gypsy is tied next to Sweeeney Todd as my favorite show and you guys are so lucky to be in it!!! The Hollywood Blondes/Toreadorables are wonderfully comedic roles that allow you to form a character of your own. About the stripers, well you are just plain lucky because they are fabulously written roles and I adore each and every one of them (mazeppa being my favorite). Just have fun and be as comedic and crazy as possible. Go all out!

Gypsy is an AMAZING show... I just directed it last fall and was the most fun of all... If you're cast as one of the main strippers you'll have a lot of fun... The Hollywood Blondes/Toreadorables are fun roles as well and I'm sure you'll love it..

I don't think she is cast as one of the three strippers if she is also cast as a Hollywood Blonde. First they are characters of vastly different ages and second and most important they appear on stage together - that would be quite some feat for an actress. She's probably cast as one of Gypsy's chorus strippers.

Congratulations. I'm sure you'll love the experience.

Ya know what is weird... When I had auditions last August for my "Gypsy". I had a 20 year old audition that had already played Mazeppa in another theatre groups "Gypsy". That was soooooooooo crazy to me... I cast my strippers at 40ish to 50ish which makes that part so much more hilarious...

Well I've seen highschool productions where all the people auditioning are under 18 anyways. With highschool productions, you have to use your imagination as the people cast as older roles are the same age as kid roles. I thought she might be in a highschool production.

In all likelyhood, you'll also be one fo the stage mothers int he opening scene, and one of the boarding hopuse residents in the "Mister Goldstone" scene.

Yeah, I'm not sure... I understand w/ the HS productions but the show she was in was at another community theatre here in Indiana! It was about three years ago which would have made her around 17 years old. This time she tried out for Louise which if she had gotten the role would have looked weird on her bio in the future... LOL
