I guess the draw of the Fabah-lus David Burtka and Julie Martell is stronger than we thought.

Theater prices have continued to climb over the years. I'm sure they have not taken into consideration the inflation rate. A Chorus Line had several sold out weeks when it first appeared at The Shubert.
I think they do actually take inflation rate into consideration. If the don't then the whole idea of a record is stupid. That's like when they say a movie is the highest grossing of all time. They then say, even if it was at prices from the 1950's it still would have out-grossd so and so.
I don't think they do, (take into account inflation) I mean, when A Chorus Line first opened you couldn't get tickets for months. Surely that would show as a higher ticket sales?
Actually...as far as movies go they do not take into account ticket inflation when talking about box office records. My guess is that they don't for Broadway either. I would guess that if they went by attendance Gypsy would not be breaking the record. It hasn't been at 100% capicity in a while has it? Still...it's pulling in a lot of money...which is good because I loved the show.

I believe that they don't take inflation into effect... Usually in a news article, they will explain that and give a rough estimate of where it would fall taking all of those things into consideration. This being more of a puff piece for Gypsy promo, they ignore that.

the reason people are going to see bernadette is..... to see if she as god-awful as they say she is
They need all the good will they can get.
Godawful? I won't get into it here because it's been debated in countless other threads..but I thought she was fantastic.
I love your icon pic Erik! Is that your dog?
Yep..that's my dog Jax. He's not as innocent as he looks
I told you guys this a very well done play. People may have been comparing Bernadette to her predecessors, but they played Mama Rose like bulldozers. Her take is different yet effective.
Couldn't agree with you more broadwaylady. Except I would say her take is not only different...but better.
