Okay so I did a search and didn't find anything about this. Has anyone done the lotto for Hair or heard anything about it? Like how many people show up for it? or how many seats they give out? Any help would be great!

The last two times I have been there, there were about 50 people. They give out 25 seats I believe.
Just be aware that this is probably the WORST lottery on Broadway right now and ever. I'd rather pay my $25 and buy a really bad quality bootleg of the show than sit in those seats again. When they say they're obstructed, they aren't kidding. I saw *MAYBE* 40% of the stage. It wasn't like Guys & Dolls where you missed the projections, with these seats you pretty much miss the entire show.
But the show itself is brilliant. I ended up paying to see it again from full view seats and was blown away. I don't think that any musical this season can come close to being as fantastic as this one is.
I heard the lotto seats were great...I guess it depends where exactly you are sitting.
They're partial view box seats. I guess if you get the first two seats up front they might be fine, but that means you have to be in the first 2 names pulled. If you're not, I would just leave. Just my opinion, but no. They are faaaaar from even being considered acceptable.

If you get outside seats, the view is great, but I guess if your seats are inside the view is not very good. Outside seats= great view, inside seats= great cast interaction.
I was on the outside and they were great seats, loved it!
thats exaggeration. i tried lottery last saturday afternoon and there were maybe 30 people there. i won and i got one of the box seats that was on the edge of the box and i saw the stage and everything perfectly fine. i can imagine that if i was in the seat next to me or the seat next to him it might have been obstructed but i dont think you'd miss that much. there were also a few orchestra seats open so alot of lotto winners moved down. for 25 bucks you get what you pay for but it's still great. if you do end up with the really obstructed box seats the next seat over you do get alot of cast interaction. its fun. go for it.

I've sat in the outside seats (both in the front and towards the back), and in the middle seats, and had a great view. My friends who had the inside seats were perfectly happy with them. I personally really liked the lotto seats as you can see all the interaction happening in the orchestra and the mezzanine.
yay gerb, I wasn't exaggerating. I said exactly how much of the stage I saw. I was sitting on the outside in the back of the left boxes and with the heads in front of me and the person next to me, I saw about 40% of the stage and a lot of it was having to move around the peoples heads in front of me. I understand they were only $25 but $25 isn't .25. It's still a good amount of money to pay to "see" something.
I tried the lotto last Wednesday and Thursday and lost both times. I felt like there were a lot of people too: maybe 75 (but please don't hold me too accountable for that number because it's only a guess). And they definitely were giving out 26 tickets (13 pairs).
i personally think that for the box seats, the closer to the stage should be a lower seat and the seat with more audience interaction should be on a platform or should just be a higher seat(kinda like a bar stool)so no heads are in the way. apologies, jordan i thought you were referring to it being to far over and not being able to see the action because the proscenium was blocking action. but i can see how people's heads can get rather annoying.
I did the lottery this past saturday for the matinee and there were maybe 10 people who were left without tickets. My friend's name was the first one called so we were the first two seats on the right. EXCELLENT seats.

I did lotto! :)
AMAZING, AMAZING seats. For real, they're perfect. Close up enough to see all the intricate acting things, and high enough up so that you can get the full picture as well. You don't miss anything.
As far as the amount of people who do lotto:
My mom and I tried it last Friday night, and it was rather busy. Not like.. ridiculous, but neither of us won, so there you go. It was a good crowd. For Saturday matinee was MUCH calmer, and we both won! :) I'd say that most of the time it's probably definitely worth trying. But just know that it CAN get rather busy. Just depends on the day and stuff
I saw it Friday night via lotto, and there was maybe about fifty people there. I was in a left box and other than missing whatever happened on that side of the stage, I thought the view was fine for this particular show. Overall, I thought the show was just great. A lot of fun.
Oh, and they have 26 tickets.
What time do they draw names?

Names are drawn 2 hours before the show.
I've sat in the lotto seats twice, both times in the house right box. The first time I was in the first row, on the outside. The second time I was in the 4th row on the aisle. I had no complaints about either seat. I couldn't see the cab of the truck either time...which was no big deal. The second time around I couldn't see some of the stuff that happened in the extreme downstage left area, but again it wasn't a huge deal. There was also a little bit of obstruction from the heads in front of me, but again, it was fine. And for $25, I don't think anyone has a place to complain. If you don't like the lotto seats, then fork over the money for regular tickets.
Totally agree with the above post. I have orchestra seats in a few weeks, but I doubt they will compare with the lotto seats in box right. It really is a unique experience and there is a lot of audience interaction in those seats. For those so inclined, also easy to rush the stage at the end from those seats. Also, it's the last place Gavin stands at the end of the show. He said something to the effect of "Now I'm going to take a nap!" at the end. Really hot guy.
I was sitting on the outside in the back of the left boxes and with the heads in front of me and the person next to me, I saw about 40% of the stage and a lot of it was having to move around the peoples heads in front of me.
Jordan, you sort of just shot yourself in the foot. From your own words, the problem was the heads in front of you. I'm unclear as to how the person next to you affected your view unless you were not in the furthest outside seat.
Head interference can happen even in premium priced seats.
I will say though, the chairs themselves are so uncomfortable.

I will agree with that. I couldn't feel my ass by intermission.
