HAIRSPRAY (review, Saturday night 1/22)

My first time, believe it or not. I was very hesitant. Always loved the movie and didn't really care for the cast recording. But it's been on TKTS so I gave it a shot.

Bruce Vilance and Carly Jibson are so wonderful. The cast, who has been doing this for God knows how long, had the energy of a cast on their opening night. One of the freshest performances I've ever seen. If anything, see it for Carly. This girl is an incredible performer who, I'm guessing, won't have many more big breaks after this show. What a bundle of energy she is!!! Bruce Vilance's comedy, although for one inappropriate ad lib referring to Brad Pitt being available (Brad Pitt wasn't even born in 1962...), is A++++. He's full of surprises, laughs and loads of fun. And a great guy at the stage door, too. Link (not sure of the performer's name) is in FABULOUS voice and looks pretty damn too. Has a great supporting ensemble and Penny too. I'd love to see it again with another cast in the future.
