HAIRSPRAY Cast Changes#1
Posted: 6/16/07 at 10:37pm
Feel free to use this thread to discuss anything pertaining to cast changes in the show, but I'm wondering if anyone has information as to when Jonathan Dokuchitz (Corny Collins) plans to leave the show. My friend and I really want to catch him in the show, but he's apparently been in it for some time, so we're a bit worried he's going to leave soon. Anyone know if and when he plans to leave and/or when his contract expires?
Sorry for the question about a somewhat obscure performer, and thanks to anyone who can help!

Jon is enjoying sitting tight in a secure gig.

I heard heard a thing about Jon departing. Then again, I don't hear much about him in general. LOL.
Last I was told, Alexa is here through mid-August.

Thanks - any specifics about what exactly "very soon" means? July/August? If you don't have any further info, especially considering you said you don't really remember, I understand...

Posted: 6/25/07 at 2:37pmAshley 's contract has been extended to October.
re: HAIRSPRAY Cast Changes#11
Posted: 6/25/07 at 3:36pmI think Ashley's thinking about going until October. It's not set in stone yet. I'm glad to hear Shannon will be there through August. I can't imagine another Tracy! I just saw the new Wilbur and was very disappointed. I also felt bad for him because he wasn't getting many laughs. Anyone know when Tivon Cambell's contract is up?

Well, having heard several people being looked at, I have my VERY strong opinions set.
Ashley is good in the show. I just feel icky watching him because he reimnds me of the WORST Link I have ever seen in my LIFE, so it disturbs me.

I actually auditioned for the Tracy stand by position in May 2007. It was a great experience and lots of fun! I would love another shot at the acting portion. The singing for me went extremely well - the casting director (don't know who she was) did say that my voice was perfect for the role. They stopped me several times and gave direction and seemed to like how I responded. Then I read the scene where Tracy is in jail and Link comes to break her out. I thought it went well, but never heard anything. Some of the other girls at the audition were actually there for their 2nd and 3rd time, so it's possible I'll get a call again somewhere down the road. I have no idea how these auditions work as I sent my picture and resume on a whim and got a call one week after I mailed them my stuff. I met Sean McCort in New York a few weeks after my audition and shared my experience with him (he's in Mary Poppins). He asked if Bernie Telsey was at my audition and seemed a bit surprised when I said that he wasn't. So maybe there's no replacement yet and they'll hold auditions again soon?? Just speculating and wishful thinking. If anyone has other info or knows if someone got the stand by slot, I'd love to know.
Thanks!

They still have the same standby. It isn't uncommon, and I know that this HAS happened with tracys, not to hear back for over a year. They always want to have people on file.
