Yes, the wigs in Hairspray ARE teased.
Yes, that IS how you spell Jim J's name. Both Jim J and Stephen were great Wilburs.

Do they video tape the auditions? How would they remember what someone sounded like a year earlier? And do you know what they look for when casting someone for Tracy? Just wondering...and thanks!

Casting directors make note when they like someone and they remember them and keep them on file. You don't need a tape.
Well aside from being fat and under 5'3", you have to the stamina, the voice to carry that mega role.. and the spunk and innocence.. determination.. etc etc. They just KNOW.
