It's theatre is a very normal size Broadway house (1450 seats, almost the same as the Shaftesbury ), but i think the problem lies with the producers slowly losing interest in the show and just trowing stunt casting at it in the hope of better returns. I pray on bended knees that that doesn't happen in London. I've said before, I think it should close on a high when Mr Ball leaves next year!
Think 13 is already playing at another theatre, so don'g get the connection.
I am sure Hairspray would be playing a lot longer if it was not for the present climate, which must me crucifying theatre and the prognosis for the future does not look good, with what has happened in the economic market over the last month, has to peculate down to the entertainment industry, we can only hope the downturn want be too severe and round to long!
I for one would hate to be a producer at the moment.
Just out of curiousity, in the last recession in the early ninties how did the theatre industry fair?
