I would pay lots of money to see that.
That is downright hilarious (and one of the many reasons why I worship and adore that man.)
I actually disagree with all of you...I think it's a slap in the face to Channing!
She's not a joke at all and this would be nothing but a joke.
I don't know Carol Channing, but I suspect she would find this charming. Johnny Depp does some broad charicatures (Ed Wood, Fear and Loathing, Pirates) but it always seems to come from an honest place. I doubt he would portray her in a cartoonish manner.
Carol Channing is bit of a cartoon.
It also sounds a like a bit of a gimmicky way to win an oscar too.
Oh my God, the picture they chose to use of Carol in that story! Hahaha.
PLAY ME, JOHNNY!

It could be great. Like when Cate Blanchett was the most convincing Bob Dylan of like 6 in that movie that was sort of about Dylan, but not really, a few years ago.
Maybe Tyne Daly can play Charles Lowe.

Carol Channing is a bit of a caricature, which I think she's pretty much aware of, and I bet would get a kick out of Depp playing her! She's a good sport and a legend!

I find that this is repulsive. Utterly repulsive.
I wonder what Dolly thinks of this.

Read the previous post, Roxy. You're still able to do things like that, aren't you?
I think Johnny was joking. I hope it doesn't hurt Carol's feelings though.

I had always heard that Ms. Channing was very fond of her send-ups in Forbidden Broadway. I would imagine she would take Depp's wish to play her as a compliment.

He already played Carol - as Willie Wonka.
Actually, many critics said it was a mix of Carol Channing and Michael Jackson.
