I am a (high) tenor auditioning for Jack in Into the Woods. Any suggestions for audition songs/monologues?

"Corner of the Sky" from PIPPIN is very appropriate because the two songs have a similar sound to them. They're very alike in the voice required to sing.

Also, check the search feature -- there are tons of threads with suggestions for your voice that can help you.

I just got into a regional musical theatre program by using "Great Big Stuff" and "Mama Says (You Can't Back Down)" -- those were definitely interesting choices. :)

I just got the part with "Mama, a Rainbow" from Minnie's Boys". Corner of the Sky" is VERY overdone.

Maybe "Winter's on the Wing" from the Secret Garden? a "quick" tenor piece with some soaring sections, similar to Giants in the Sky.

I know it isnt the best to use a song from the show but you could sing Giants in the Sky. Especially if you are auditioning for the role and you can sing it well its not going to hurt you I would think. I recently did Into the Woods and both our Jack and Witch sang songs from the show for their auditions.
